Torture, Destruction of Evidence, Lying about GI Suicide Rate -- Helen Thomas to WH Press Corp: "Whe

http://words-of-power.blogspot.com/2008/04/torture-destruction-of-evidence-lying.html

-snip-

Helen Thomas: The President has said publicly several times, in two consecutive news conferences a few months ago, and you have said over and over again, we do not torture. Now he has admitted that he did sign off on torture, he did know about it. So how do you reconcile this credibility gap?
MS. PERINO: Helen, you're taking liberties with what the President said. The United States has not, is not torturing any detainees in the global war on terror. And General Hayden, amongst others, has spoken on Capitol Hill fully in this regard, and it is -- I'll leave it where it is. The President is accurate in saying what he said.
...Helen Thomas: You're denying, in this room, that we torture and we have tortured?
MS. PERINO: Yes, I am denying that.
Helen then turned in her seat, looked at her colleagues, shook her head in disgust, and asked sadly: "Where is everybody? For God's sakes!" Eric Brewer, Raw Story, 4-24-08

1. "Indeed, where is everybody?"
and more

Consider what some e-mail from Bush's Veterans Administration reveals, and then imagine what is in the missing White House e-mails:

In one email message titled “Not for the CBS News…,” the VA’s head of mental health Dr. Ira Katz wrote "Shh!" and then claimed there were 1,000 suicide attempts per month by veterans under the care of the agency. The e-mail was written last February when CBS News was questioning the VA about the number of veterans who have tried to kill themselves.
After a public records request, the VA provided CBS News with data that showed there were a total of 790 attempted suicides by VA patients in the entire year of 2007. This number was nowhere near what Katz was saying privately in his email. CBS News, 4-23-08

Indeed, where is everybody?

this administration MUST be held accountable

4. The White House Press Corpse...
...there was never a more apt description, with Helen heroically trying to revive it.

They ought to be embarrassed by their silence in the face of proof that torture was an explicit policy, and was being run directly from the White House. To not direct any questions at all to Ms. Perino about this is just to be completely remiss in their moral duty. To not even back Helen up, for heaven's sake! Not even one who offered a follow-up question! For shame! Do they not realize, that history will judge them also?

Sadly, while the press has let us down terribly, history will not be kind to us either. There has to be more we can do!

They're all on ignore. The giggling press corp were too busy thinking about their gala dinner with the war criminals.

9. Helen Thomas is the last reporter in Washington...
...even though she scared the shit out of Stephen Colbert that one time...

I cannot wait for her to ask the first question of our next president's first press conference.

10. This brings it to Helen Thomas - 852 Dana "Dumbfuck" Perino - 2.5
Dana Perino is easily the single STUPIDEST PR person I have EVER seen, be it private or government sector. How the fuck did this dumb bitch get the job? Oh wait, I guess all she has to do is say "Yes, sir. Right away sir" to our Chimp-in-Chief and then simply deny anything she has no clue about (so pretty much everything). I'm pretty sure that my hyperactive 12 yr old cousing could do just as good a job. Dan Perino = the pretty face of fascism.

19. "D.C.Dana" has less credibility than "Baghdad Bob"
I think the only person less informed than DC Dana is Chimpy himself.

"I reject your reality and substitute my own!" should be written on the background wall for this whitehouse.

Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 03:38 PM by Rex
Sick bastards are no better than the 'terrorists'. Fucking disgusting, I'm with Helen on this one.

No one?

Guess the peanut gallery is waking up the fact that THEY can be tortured and the person lying in front of them today, will lie about their torture tomorrow if needed by her 'President'.

15. *sigh* I wonder what this country might be like if we had more
actual JOURNALISTS doing the work they were supposed to be doing, as Helen Thomas does. God bless her.
Dana Perino is as bereft of credibility as the entire unelected sorry-ass Imbecile MisAdministration; if she says it, it must be a lie.
