Rising prices boost Shell and BP
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7372509.stm
<snip>
Oil firms Royal Dutch Shell and BP have made better-than-expected first-quarter profits thanks to the rising price of oil, which is close to $120 a barrel.

Shell made profits of $7.8bn (£3.9bn) in the first three months of the year, up from $6.9bn a year ago.

And rival BP saw its profits rise 48% to $6.588bn (£3.31bn), from $4.4bn.
---------
And there was someone on BBC International defending this crap. :puke:

1. Remember the windfall profits tax?
When big oil made big money on rising prices in the late 70s, they were hit by a windfall profits tax. Are oil companies making big money now? Have you heard windfall profits mentioned lately?

2. That's what I woke up to this morning....
...that story coupled with the food shortages plunging people into poverty around the world and I just flashed on how this was the goal of this administration - to make their friends rich - at the world's expense.

4. How The Rich Are Getting Richer...
Wanna know why this regime loves watching these prices soar...it's all those dividends that flow into their portfolios. Sure, they're paying more for gas for the brewery-owned jet or cigarette boat, but the stock increases more than pay for that. It's money going from one pocket and into the other.

Dare it be said that these oil profits may indirectly be helping some whose pensions and savings are being eaten alive...one of the few hedges that is saving their 401k or other fund from going into dust.
