Bush says Congress is responsible for high gas...
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 11:21 AM by Blue_Roses
Didn't Congress just pass the so-called, "Stimulus Package" and isn't that the reason for the rebates AND isn't this somehow suppose to ease us from the gas prices? :eyes: How can people honestly listen to his dribble and whining these days when he really could care less. He and his oil buddies are gettin' "theirs" so why should he give a damn about you and me paying for our gas? Can the man not take responsibility for anything? If people can listen to him without getting angry, then they aren't really listening.:argh:

Bush chides Congress for lack of action
'Tough time for our economy,' he says, accusing lawmakers of 'delay'

updated 2 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - President Bush said Tuesday that Congress is blocking his proposals to deal with high gas prices and dragging its feet on other issues to address the nation’s sagging economy. He said he was open to any idea in terms of energy, including a proposal backed by John McCain and Hillary Clinton to suspend gas and diesel taxes this summer.

But, he said, he favored longer-term fixes, such as encouraging new oil production in the United States and the building of new refineries.

“It’s a tough time for our economy,” Bush said at a Rose Garden news conference. “Across our country, many Americans are understandably anxious about issues affecting their pocketbook, from gas and food prices to mortgage and tuition bills. They’re looking to their elected leaders in Congress for action.

more, if you can stomach it...

2. It's official: He clearly doesn't give a fuck anymore.
He's like the senior in high school after winter break and just counting down the days until it's finally over. He used to at least act like he gave a fuck but now he doesnt. Gas prices are spiraling out of control, everyone is suffering and the jackass thinks that $600/person is going to solve it all. :eyes:

8. Now what was that jawbone thingy he came up with before?
When he complained about 'high' gas prices in 2000, did he blame President Clinton or the GOP-controlled Congress? I just can't seem to remember.

13. Yes. But back then, gas was only $1.45/gallon retail, and oil $30/barrel
And he was ready to act; use his "political capital" to get the Saudis and Kuwaitis to "open up the spigot." But, now that gas is about $3.60/gallon retail and oil is $120/barrel, he will...wait... uh...hmmmm...

Do.

Absolutely.

Nothing.

9. So the strategy from the beginning was to start drilling in the
Alaskan fields. Congress did not go along -- neither under Republican nor under Democratic leadership, so the prices had to be raised through the roof. The whole point was so that the profits could be taken under the Bush administration's tax policies by interests that the Bushies favor.

The strategy has backfired. The economy is kaput, and the Bush administration is terrified that its friends won't get to grab the maximum profits from that tiny oil reserve -- or is that oil reserve larger than stated and that was what the whole thing was about from the beginning?

14. Seems to me, that it's Bush who has been blocking Congress.
From last Saturday: Bush administration opposes Democrats' mortgage relief bill

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/04/26/house.mortgage/index.html

"The Bush administration calls the bill a "bailout," saying it "strongly opposes" the legislation sponsored by House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, a Massachusetts Democrat, intended to make it easier for homeowners to refinance their loans and stay in their homes.

The committee, which estimates that the program could help 1.5 million homeowners who are having difficulty paying their mortgages, is expected to approve Frank's bill next week."

Today on the farm bill: White House Signals Farm Bill Veto

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/04/28/politics/politico/thecrypt/main4053057.shtml

" White House spokesman Scott Stanzel today threatened that President Bush would veto the Farm Bill if it comes to him in its current iteration.
"I understand members will be meeting about this tomorrow, so things still may be a bit fluid. But, as it stands now, it is not something the president would support," Stanzel said in an e-mail when asked if the president would veto it."

16. It is Congress' fault!
The should have removed this insane lying SOB from power by now.

They also should have pursued a windfall profit tax on the oil companies like Kucinich has proposed. The problem is not the oil prices but the RECORD OIL PROFITS of EXXON etc.

Bush is a raving lunatic, but what is Congress' excuse? They are supposed to provide a system of checks and balances to counter such idiocy!

Does anyone know if she has done so?

They have refined it into a high art form. But you can be sure if there was any credit to be
taken on something BushCo would be yelling "Me! Me!" loud and strong high atop their soap box.
