2. I have oft said energy is too important to be in private, greedy hands.
My sister, however, believes we should sell every bit of it. And THEN nationalize. Just remember that oilmen are the most entitled bastards on the face of the earth and they have assassins on the rolodex.

3. Excuse me, but how does nationalizing it solve anything?
We are running out of oil. Yet the demand for it continues to grow. Demand is higher than supply. Therefore, prices go up. This is Econ 101. HOw would nationalizing oil companies solve anything. Reduce demand or increase supply. Those are the only two options.

the government would use more of the profit/revenue from sales to fund alternative energy sources. they arent going to switch on their own.

Government operations are not intended to make a profit. It should be a break even proposition.
