The nerve of this asshole: Bush: Congress blocking gas proposals
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush said Tuesday that Congress is blocking his proposals to deal with high gas prices and called on lawmakers to pass legislation to help combat the housing crisis.
He said during a news conference in the Rose Garden on Tuesday that he was open to any idea in terms of energy, including a proposal backed by presidential hopefuls John McCain, the Republican senator from Arizona, and Hillary Clinton, the Democratic senator from New York, to suspend gas and diesel taxes this summer.

But, Bush added, he favored longer-term fixes, such as encouraging new oil production in the United States and the building of new refineries.

"It's a tough time for our economy," Bush told reporters. "Across our country, many Americans are understandably anxious about issues affecting their pocketbook, from gas and food prices to mortgage and tuition bills. They're looking to their elected leaders in Congress for action.

6. "...open to any idea in terms of energy..."
Except opening up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve or at least not continuing to buy oil to add to it when oil is $100+ a fucking barrel.

7. OK, one more time stupid...
Does anyone actually think that oil companies are eager to spend billions on new refineries that are not cost effective so that oil prices will come down? Ha! Don't make me laugh.
