If the gas tax holiday passes, will it change your driving habits?
I was thinking about a little road trip this summer, but with the cost of gas what it is, I'm probably not going to do it. If they pass the gas tax holiday, then I might be able to make it happen.

What do you guys think?

1. I only drive as much as I have to
And I don't think that will change.

Besides, watch the prices rise to the level the tax offset almost immediately.

2. No, because it won't make much of a difference at all
Let's see, 18 cents per fillup, on an empty tank for me, is about $2.16. One fillup per week for four months, $34.56. Drop in the bucket.

This gas tax holiday is pandering at its finest. It sounds good only because it sounds like "cheaper gas!"

4. 18 cents a gallon is enough of a savings to make or break your road trip plans?
i will save $2.25 a per fill up, that isn't even enough to buy a gallon of gas.

6. 4 dollars is my psychological barrier
I have this whenever I buy things. There is some kind of line in my mind that if something is $10 or under then I'll buy it without thinking about it too much. If it's more than that, then I'll have to really think about if I really want it or not. If the price of gas is under 4, then I'll consider it. If it's above that, then the trip is kaput.

16. You're making the assumption that oil companies will pass the 18 cents
on to the consumer, which is unlikely.

Whether or not there's a gas tax "holiday" has no impact on the likelihood gas will be below $4/gallon.

7. no. the 18 or 24 cents that is saved by freezing the gas tax
will just be eaten up by the continuous and accelerating rise in prices. We'll not save a dime and our roads will go to hell (what hasn't already) too!

14. I don't have a car, but I can get one if I need one.
Mass transit usually does it for me, but I do like a good road trip.

13. No, I drive so little that I usually fill the tank only once a month
When I moved to Mpls, I knew that I'd have to drive some, but I chose a neighborhood that had lots of stores and services in walking distance and what passes for good public transit in the Twin Cities.

15. Nope.
I figured it out. I pretty much go to work and the grocery store and that's it. If I continue driving like this, 12 weeks of tax-free gas would earn me a grand total of--

$19.37.

What a fargin' crock of crap . . . . :puke:

17. Nope.
Although I'd have hoped high prices would alter my wife's driving habits.

No luck, so far.
