What will replace the Democratic party ..............
..... if it totally implodes in Denver?

I was a young adult in 1968.

This seems worse.

**Much** worse.

5. BTW the Repugs have major problems also
their's just isn't covered by anyone.
I often wonder if the US will finally get more than 2 parties after this round. Liberals, Dems, Conservative and (not sure what to call) the far right.
I would love to join a viable liberal party.

17. We need 4. We won't get them.
Until the Electoral College is abolished, or electors proportioned according to the popular vote, minority parties don't have much appeal. Parliamentary governments that somestimes need to create coalitions to create majorities also enhance minority party appeal. Our whole system somewhat supports having two big tent style parties where the uncomfortable coalitions are formed within the parties.

7. I think there is a progressive movement
without an actual party already.

I think what will happen, is that the Greens will reap large benefits.
And our climate is about to give the Greens a big boost.

OTOH, a formal Labor party might happen too.

8. If were lucky the DLC will move over to the GOP where they belong
Leaving us with a chance to rebuild a real progressive party.

9. There is only one party in the US. The Corporate Party.
Includes a Right Wing (fascists), and a Center Wing

13. A R/W New Democratic Party (NDP) and a bigger Green Party.
NDP will get press and a minority of Congress. Greeens may get a Rep or two in Congress.

14. I would guess it would merge with the GOP
There would be the neo-conservatives and the moderates. Kinda like now, but with Chaffe and Whitman working along side Kerry and Schumer against the neo-cons.

18. Nothing. We Would Turn into a One-Party Political System (Like All Other Fascist Regimes)
The demise of the Democratic party would leave the Repigs in complete control for the foreseeable future.
We would be far too fragmented to challenge them, and we would become invisible to all but the most hard-core political junkies anyway.
Arguably this is already the case.

20. Hopefully, a reallignment into 3 or more parties. Left, right, center.
Instead of the two centrist, capitalist, parties we now have.
