Do you consider the alphabet you are now reading to be "foreign"?
Latin and English, although related, are definitely distinct languages and not merely dialects of a single language. The alphabet used in writing the English language is a minor variation on the Latin alphabet.

No more than I consider the concept of the number zero to be foreign.

After time some things become naturalized, no longer foreign.

I love the old Fractur, which is difficult to read but looks classy.

But I digress. Yes, our alphabet is "foreign", as is our number system, which isn't Roman but actually comes from India, even though the numbers are commonly called "Arabic".
