We could stop paying people for garbage, and that money could be used by Americans to better their lives instead. I know people will point out how many work in that industry, but industries come and go.

So what if?

I think he's complaining about the quality.. and its shitty and full of propaganda.
That's why so many men thought it'd be heroic to march off to war.. then they got there and decided it sucked.

2. since we are attacking industries for recreation
Lets outlaw dirt bikes, race cars, guns, hmmm what else?

Once you start this slippery slope, where does it end? Lets not go there. Bad idea.

7. Not outlaw, just saying what if we chose to not give them our money.

They made movies and no one showed up to give them money. What could be done with that money instead.

9. You don't go and hand your money to someone for it.

I'm not trying to organize some type of action, just asking the question, how much could be done for America with that money if it wasn't given to them.

3. Yeah, what if we stop paying millions and millions for music too.
Along with books, magazines, TV, and other forms of entertainment. Yes, we could use that money to better peoples' lives physically, but their mental life will become a shambles.

People need to escape and be entertained now and again, otherwise they go nuts. This is where movies and other forms of entertainment come in. Sure, we could use that money to better people's physical lives, but if people don't have some sort of escape valve, they will go crazy.

Yes, I also agree that most of what Hollywood puts out is garbage, but hey, some people like garbage:shrug: Hell, the movie industry was big during the Great Depression too, when escapism was really needed, and they were putting out garbage then too.

Oh, yeah, and then there's that whole economic sector thingy. Do you really want to see LA dry up and blow away?

5. Surprising.
I figured that gas prices would curtail such discretionary spending.

11. Hey
I've been doing that for many years. I very rarely go to see a movie. When I do it is usually one of those "gotta see" movies that is well vetted and well recomended. I'm usually reminded of why I tend to avoid theaters.

There are lots of other things I prefer to spend that $$$ on.
