Please be honest - I want to get a good sense here of whether assumptions I have or others have vaguely make sense. I know this will not be a scientific poll at all, but a worthwhile gist if enough people answer honestly.
Definitions:
Core downtown = main central area of a major city, usually where governmental offices etc are. For example think Lower Manhattan or DC Hill area Other city area = within major city limits but not in central corridor. Think Georgetown or South St. Louis Suburb = smaller twon surrounding a major city including any exurbs. Most markets have TV news covering the "tri county area" or "Seven county area" or "Metroplex". Anywhere included in those definitions = suburb for my purposes.

As to commuting sometimes if you live in a suburb and commute to another it can mean different things. Some people travel dozens of miles *across a city* to get to a different suburb and some travel a few miles within the burb that the live in.. So were I a proper member and able to create polls..
1) I live and commute to downtown 2) I live in a city and commute within the city 3) I live in a city and commute to an inner ring suburb 4) I live in a city and commute to an outer ring suburb
5) I live and commute within the same inner ring suburb 6) I live in an inner ring suburb and commute into downtown 7) I live in an inner ring suburb and commute into the city 8) I live in an inner ring suburb and commute to a neighboring suburb 9) I live in an inner ring suburb and cross through the city or another suburb to get to work
10) I live and commute within the same outer ring suburb 11) I live in an outer ring suburb and commute into downtown 12) I live in an outer ring suburb and commute into the city 13) I live in an outer ring suburb and commute to a neighboring suburb 14) I live in an outer ring suburb and cross through the city or another suburb to get to work
15) I live in a rural area and commute 40+ miles 16) I live in a rural area and commute 20-40 miles
