Ex-CIA analyst thinks Bush plans to attack Iran this year
By Paul J. Nyden
Staff writer

Ray McGovern, a career U.S. intelligence officer, believes President Bush and his administration have no intention of leaving Iraq and are preparing to attack Iran in the next few months.

"I believe George Bush and Dick Cheney plan to take care of Iran before they leave office. But what will happen then, if Iran cuts supplies coming to Iraq through Kuwait? That could threaten tens of thousands of our soldiers," McGovern said during a Tuesday interview with the Gazette.

McGovern will speak at West Virginia State University this evening and at Grace Baptist Church in Charleston on Thursday morning.

In January 2003, McGovern helped create Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, a group that has 67 former professionals from the Central Intelligence Agency, State Department and military intelligence agencies.

1. I wonder if there are Vegas odds on this?
I would trust the odds more than the opinion of some ex-CIA. When there is money to be made, as in Vegas betting, the info tends to be more believable.

10. Interesting.
So about a 30% chance this year if I am interpreting the numbers correctly.

I read how the intelligence services are watching these odds for sudden blips that might tip them off that something is happening on the terror front.

2. I'm not a CIA analyst but my gut is telling me the same thing.
Movement of our military equipment into the Persian Gulf is sort of a give away and the need for them to finish the PNAC plan in the Middle East that involves Iran is another hint that they intend to get this done before Bush leaves office.

7. He'll probably do what his Poppy did...
The Repubs will lose the election, and His Royal Flatulence will get us involved in a quagmire before the inaugeration. Poppy did it with Haiti and W will do it with Iran...
