The media focuses, instead, on horseraces.

When was the last time you heard any media discuss an actual issue? Or a comparison of this one's health care plan to that one's? Or a contrast between a Repubican position and a Democratic position?

Without an honest media, we are SO fucked.

3. There's a book
I cannot recommend it too highly. I couldn't put it down:

"So Wrong For So Long," by Greg Mitchell.

It's a must-read for any sentient American. The few there are.

6. For the media, it's about ratings.
A close race means higher ratings.

Ratings are much higher Sunday afternoon when Tiger is tied for the lead rather than 10 strokes ahead.

If a guy can't bowl, how and I supposed to believe he can run a country?

:sarcasm:

The MSM is dying. With web 2.0 people who really care about democracy can find info to educate themselves. When web 3.0 (whatever that is, but I assume searches will be far more efficient) and mainstream Web TV become everpresent the corporate media will hopefully die a painful death when it comes to important issues.

As it stands, most people get their important news online. TV news is just bullshit and celebrity gossip anymore.
