76. Hi Truthseekers! I'm really late tonight...

We went to see hubby's mom. She had rotator cuff surgery Wednesday. It started out as arthroscopy, but the damage was extensive, so they had to cut open. I'm very aggravated over how little they prepared her for this surgery. What is the point of giving out instructions and prescriptions after the surgery? Even if you have someone taking care of you, you don't feel like driving aroud town buying pain meds and bandages and colace for your constipated innards.

Furthermore, they knew there was a high likelihood she could need the extensive surgery, but they still set her up for an outpatient clinic nowhere close to a hospital. She was in terrible pain the next day, and her lortab wasn't cutting it. IMO, She should have been in a hospital for a day or two with IV pain meds, IMO. She has plenty of insurance, Tricare, and Medicare. I hate seeing people in pain needlessly.

I guess the care planning assumed all the patients were thirty-something male athletic baseball pitchers who wouldn't mind going topless for six weeks. I'll be sewing some special shirts for her since her left shoulder is immobilized and she'll be in a sling for at least three weeks.

Anyway, I spent the day getting her a bathtub chair, grocery shopping, and cooking comfort food (homemade chicken and dumplings) since they live out in the country, my FIL is over 70, and my sister-in-law can't drive either.
