There was an article posted earlier about car lots not taking SUVs or large trucks in for trade anymore. My question is this. Why couldn't our government give a trade credit to people trading in their gas guzzlers for pre-approved fuel efficient vehicles? Then with the some of the trucks and SUVs, they could sell them to a U-Haul type company so people could rent them when they NEEDED them. The rest could be parted out and recycled.
First, I figure this would help with the cost of gas by lessening the demand for it. Second, it would help the manufacturers buy giving them the incentive to expand their production of fuel efficient vehicles. Third, it would help the economy by stimulating sales of fuel efficient vehicles. Fourth, it would create business by opening more rental companies and the employees to operate them. Fifth, it would would also create jobs for the auto recycle industry. This is just something I thought about after reading the other post. Give me your views and tell me why or why you don't think this would work.
Thanks ahead of time, Arctic Dave
