Did John McCain Call His Wife a C**t?
Did John McCain Call His Wife a C**t?
Posted by ZP Heller, Brave New Films at 9:00 AM on May 2, 2008.

At a town hall meeting in Iowa yesterday, Baptist Minister Marty Parrish asked McCain:

"This question goes to mental health and mental health care. Previously, I've been married to a woman that was verbally abusive to me. Is it true that you called your wife a (expletive)?"

McCain: "Now, now. You don't want to... Um, you know that's the great thing about town hall meetings, sir, but we really don't, there's people here who don't respect that kind of language. So I'll move on to the next questioner in the back."

Apparently, Parrish was escorted out of the town hall for asking this question, then detained by Secret Service before being released. To me, that suggests a total hypocrisy at play. McCain can use this expletive to refer to his wife, but if an average citizen questions him about it publicly, he's taken into police custody, forced to leave a public forum, and questioned by the Secret Service?!

Parrish, who used to work for Joe Biden's campaign, explained the reasons for his question: "What I am worried about is his temper. Our country is in a serious crisis. This election is the most significant one since 1860. It appears America is asleep -- so I stood up and asked the question."

2. I think that goes too far ....
Edited on Sat May-03-08 09:31 AM by Trajan
I have called my wife that .... both in lust and in anger .... She liked the one, but responded in kind to the other ...

Most of the people I know, both men AND women, have used that term .... Yeah, we are an unsavory bunch, but absolutely common ....

I think it is worse to use the word in a public meeting than in private, either nicely or not so nicely ...

We have a battered economy and over 4000 dead in a useless war ..... We have plenty of issues to work with ..... His mental health is an issue, but I don't think this is an indicator ...

5. One wonders why McCheney couldn't just say "No I did not."
Some politicians lie all of the time; true or not, McCheney could just simply have denied it. So what would have prevented him from doing so? How many people know he actually said this? So, if he denies it, those who heard him say it can tell everyone that he is a liar . . . . ? So, of course, rather than "The Straight Talk Express" risking being called a Liar AND abusive towards his wife, he's been told by his advisers to duck and cover with some kind of ruse about people's tender ears beng assaulted by such obscene words.

6. If he had spelled the word then he wouldn't have been dragged off.
The type of people who can't stand swear words can't spell either. }(

it's none of their damn business why he asked the question.

9. I hope he did too. None of their business why he asked it. It's a free country or at least
it used to be.

11. "escorted out for asking this question, then detained by Secret Service before being released" ?
there is something really wrong when someone is detained for asking QUESTION.

oh, and here is the FOX news version:
"McCain Ambushed With Obscene Question at Town Hall Event"

which includes the line, "Secret Service agents escorted the man out of the building."

again, for asking a question ???
