Do you think Bush will stay involved in politics after his term?
I think he's smarter (and probably more evil) than we think. Like his friend, Karl Rove, I think he'll manage to stay in the shadows but still profit from whatever influence he has left.

Anybody else think he plans on sticking around?

1. No, I don't think he
is involved right now. He will drift away to get drunk, snort coke, and live the life of an idle rich asshole. Just like he is doing now. And I don't believe he is smart. I think he is cunning and manipulative. Worthless waste of fucking space ever.

3. not leaving
Sadly, I think that if it looks like Obama is going to win the election, we will have a false flag event to rally people to McCain, or keep this terrible administration in power. I don't think they want to relinquish power. The laws they have put in place seem to favor this scenario. Why else are they building concentration camps here and changing long-standing laws regarding domestic militia? They keep pushing for another war despite the obvious lack of forces needed even to fight this one. I don't see where they are acting as if they are leaving.

20. Not Leaving - I agree
Why would this administration consolidate so much power in the
executive if they thought a democrat would win the election.
They will do something to stay in power. I hate them!!

4. I think the only thing Bush will be stuck to will be the
barstool at the 19th hole of some whites only country club in Dallas where he'll waste his remaining days drowning his sorrows in Jack Daniels and telling off-color jokes to a bunch of retired CEOs who'll fawn over him.

He may also put in an occasional appearance (for a fat fee) at some oil company shareholder meetings.

No, I don't think he'll remain politically engaged. In fact, I don't think he ever was.

5. Carlyle Group
Lots of public speaking gigs (he's a terrible speaker, but the evangelical crowd will eat him up)

I suspect he'll try to get back into baseball -- either as an owner, or as Commissioner

I suspect his international travel will be limited to places like Dubai, due to the real possibility of international war crimes charges. I don't think there's a serious possibility he'll be jailed here.

27. Baseball, that was my first thought.
Bushco got a whole lot richer in the past eight years. Until money no longer talks, bush will do whatever he pleases and he likes baseball.

having the ability to think on his feet that a TV pundit needs. In short, he will dissappear from view...unless you're willing to pay to see him. I also don't see him doing the talk show rounds pushing a book...as that would require actually writing one.

7. Puppet show
He'll hit the road with Cheney's hand up his ass, just as it's been for eight years, and the Saudis' biggest puppet will put on shows for the Arab Emirates, for free, to entertain them and to make sure they'll keep the Carlyle Group in high clover.

After the show, they'll pass him around and use him like a cheap whore.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if he ends up seeking political asylum on the Bush family 100,000 acre spread in Paraguay.

9. His brain will come to a dead stop
It was just too hard werk being the Decider.

Yeah, I know you'll say his brain was always at a dead stop, but I beg to differ. I saw his eyelid twitch and he smirked again. That's a lot of brain function for him. He might give a few speeches but only to some highly vetted worshippers with the same level of brain function.

He'll have to. You KNOW he doesn't want to face the same fate as 163 Texans, a couple million Iraqis and 4000-plus American soldiers.

He is not.

He is however extra heavy on the evil.

No, he will go to S. America to avoid being prosecuted.

18. He's not done. He's not gone.
Still time to bomb Iran (you KNOW he's salivating to do it). Absolutely would not surprise me if in October there's either an attack on Iran or another big, domestic terror attack (genuine or manufactured) and he just won't leave. He'll have to steer the "homeland" through the manufactured crisis. They've been stealing elections, amassing presidential power, lining the pockets of their country club buddies at big Oil, and raping the Constitution for too long to give it all up now. Hope I'm wrong.

19. Bush was never involved in politics - he's just the face we see.
Edited on Sat May-03-08 11:46 AM by Rosemary2205
He'll likely content himself to go home and murder frogs with his friends.

The Bush family is evilness incarnate. GW, though, is too stupid and mentally impaired to be evil. The man clearly has no ability at all to understand good and evil. He'll go to his grave believing he did the right thing because someone he trusted told him he did. He's too impaired to be capable of looking outside his small circle, accepting incoming information, and process it.

Turdblossom will still be actively fucking up the world so the second of his death, and we'll "enjoy" the fruits of his evilness for centuries to come.

disclaimer - Yes I used to say Bush is evil. I have recently come to realize that to be evil one must be capable of understanding "good".

21. Bush reigns, he doesn't govern
He doesn't get his hands dirty with politics. He has flunkies and hitmen who do that work FOR him.

Besides, he doesn't have the wit or intelligence to spar with an opponent.

He can only speak in vague generalities.

22. Not any more than Clinton or Bush41 did ...
I do agree that he's smarter and more conniving than we usually give him credit for ... but I'll bet he's not any more involved than his predecessors were. Clinton has been a bit more involved lately, but mostly because of Hillary. Bush41 has stayed pretty much out of the limelight ... surfacing every once in a while for a relatively non-controversial operation.

Dubya strikes me as the type that might just retire to a life of comfort in Crawford. He might resurface if Jeb Bush or George P make a run for office in the next decade or two, or for some other non-controversial junk ... but otherwise, I'll bet he's going to take a break from politics. Even the most ideological of Presidents get tired of it all after two terms.

Other right-wingers will carry his mantle -- Condi, McCain, Romney, Huckabee ... there's a long line of ideologues to implement the neocon agenda.

29. No.
He got what he wanted and fulfilled the purpose of his puppet masters. He's interested in sports not politics. Now like a good horse, he will be put out to pasture. He most likely will seriously go about the business of drinking himself to death while watching ESPN.
