Probe of USS Cole Bombing Unravels
Plotters Freed in Yemen; U.S. Efforts Frustrated

(snip)

The collapse of the Cole investigation offers a revealing case study of the U.S. government's failure to bring al-Qaeda operatives and their leaders to justice for some of the most devastating attacks on American targets over the past decade.

Lather, rinse, repeat...

1. Ah yes
And yet if Clinton had bombed some Al Qaeda camp in the closing months of his presidency, these same people (neo-con phony "intellectuals" and think tank keyboard peckers) would have bitched and complained about "Wag the Dog" because it was two weeks before an election. Or if Clinton had done it after the election they would have bitched and complained that Clinton was only doing it for his legacy.

There is no way to win with these people.

4. Actually, You Have To Hand It To Them
They've cried terror so many times that we all feel relatively secure when they do it now.

Wasn't there a fable like that?

7. The Repugs didn't know terrorism existed till they found out they could get votes from it.
Bill Clinton sent legislation to Congress to tighten airport security. The legislation was defeated by the Republicans because of opposition from the airlines.

Clinton sent legislation to Congress to allow for better tracking of terrorist funding. It was defeated by Republicans in the Senate because of opposition from banking interests.

Clinton sent legislation to Congress to add tagents to explosives, to allow for better tracking of explosives used by terrorists. It was defeated by the Republicans because of opposition from the NRA.

11. The tracking explosives thing
was when I really knew the NRA was nuts, and not just about innocent, sporting use of hunting rifles.

Okay, so I didn't have my eyes open before. But if there is any one thing that reveals what they are really about, that has to be it.

Good to see you ....

Yes .... If there isn't an initiative that hasn't been royally FUCKED UP by the party in power, I didn't know what it is ....

Well ... They did successfully empty the nation's coffers ...

And .... They did start an unnecessary war and placed their friends into position to reap a huge windfall in war-based profits .... THAT they did well ...

And .... They did pound down the income of average families while simultaneously allowing their good buddies in the oil industry to pick the pockets of every single citizen ... even GOP voters and business owners .... and tip the nation into a dangerous slide into economic pain and misery ....

So yeah .... what was I thinking ? ... These guys are very GOOD ! ....

:sarcasm:

Keep it coming Will .... Let us (NW DUers) know the next time you visit the NW ..... Maybe we can quaff a few delicious brews ....
