"Defining Insanity" By Mark Crispin Miller
From Mark Crispin Miller's News From Underground:
"Defining Insanity"

Certainly the title of this piece befits the Democrats--and yet the piece itself
is absolutely wrong:

Bush did not beat Gore and Kerry by "defining" them a certain way--because
Bush did not beat Gore or Kerry. Bush "won" both of those elections by stealing
them. Gore won Florida, and Kerry won Ohio. The evidence is out there, and
it's irrefutable.

And yet the Democrats refuse to face it, doing nothing as the GOP continues to
prepare to steal this next election, too.
We have the same computerized machines
in place from coast to coast; and, moreover, Bush & Co. has lately made tremendous
progress in its quiet drive to disenfranchise millions of Americans, by purging voters
from the rolls (which also are computerized), and making registration drives a lot more
difficult, and passing neo-Jim Crow legislation (like Indiana's photo ID law), and
"caging," and unleashing "challengers," and on and on and on.

All such steps will obviously have a huge effect on this year's race; and yet the
Democrats behave as if they'll win this one for sure--if they can only pick their
candidate, raise tons of money, craft a winning message, and conduct a really great
campaign! All of that will do it! Even if the voters aren't allowed to vote, or have
their votes erased....

In short, what's happened twice already is about to happen once again; and yet
the Democrats have changed their thinking, and altered their behavior, not at all.

So it is true: "If, as they say, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over
again and expecting a different result, it may be time to sign us Democrats up for
the funny farm." And this piece on HuffPost is also symptomatic of the madness.

4. I Just Don't Think
there are enough dirty tricks in the GOP arsenal
this year to overcome a Dem landslide.
Half of the Republicans are sick of their own party.

That said, we do need to fix things by the mid terms in 2010

Thus my logon name.

But I must add that whereas I wrote hundreds of replies to correct journalists for forgetting the theft in the first few years, it seems that it's become common knowledge or some variation of 'conventional wisdom' and journalists remember the facts now. So maybe after the next theft more people will remember and finally take the neo-cons seriously. Misery and pain are good teachers.

Edited for clarity

and therein lies THE problem with Election 2008 . . . will it matter if the nominee is Clinton or Obama? . . . not in the least . . .

"In short, what's happened twice already is about to happen once again; and yet the Democrats have changed their thinking, and altered their behavior, not at all.

it can't be said too many times . . .

it's not who votes that counts; it's who counts the votes . . .

14. And the Dems may well nominate a candidate this time that provides the perfect cover story
for large statistical anomalies.

17. Oh you got my hopes up. I thought your words were Miller's on Huffington Post.
What you have said in the OP is the truth and I was so excited that it was on Huffington's post because I know Dean reads it. I followed the link and read Miller's piece and then read it again looking for the stolen election paragraphs and they weren't there! I came back here and re-read your post. He SHOULD have said it. D'OH. :)

20. But when you examine the reasons for it, the divide makes sense:
1)Those who perceive, and want, business as usual, and often label and relegate those who differ on this as "conspiracy theorists."

2)Those who are able to accurately discern that we've entered into unprecedented territory in this country re mass corruption, coupled with mass simultaneous denial of the obvious.

My bar has been lowered considerably.
