Stephen King: If you can't read 'Then you've got the Army, Iraq'
"I don't want to sound like an ad, a public service ad on TV, but the fact is if you can read, you can walk into a job later on. If you don't, then you've got, the Army, Iraq, I don't know, something like that. It's, it's not as bright. So, that's my little commercial for that."

4. I think that;s why things like Abu Ghraib happen
I don't think anyone involved was educated, where they?

Not that 'educated' neccessarily means 'moral'. But I think anyone with a 3 digit IQ would have figured out that they weren't supposed to be doing that, and it was something they wouold get in serious trouble for.

7. I disagree.
Look at studies such as the Stanford Prison experiment or the Milgram experiment.

Even big brained intellectuals are fallible humans at their core.

5. I wouldn't generalize...
Many excellent colleges and universities (including Ivy League schools) have ROTC programs and those folks can certainly read.

8. He should stick to writing spooky tales and not ad libbing PSAs.

There are a lot worse economic choices than being in the Army for undereducated folks.
