PICKLES! Laura FUCKING Bush! "Discusses Jenna's Wedding During Myanmar Press Conference"
Laura Bush Discusses Jenna's Wedding During Myanmar Press Conference

A White House press conference given by First Lady Laura Bush took a bizarre and insensitive twist when the focus of the conference, the devastation wrought by a powerful cyclone in Myanmar, switched to Jenna Bush's upcoming wedding. While the reporters and the First Lady bantered back and forth about Jenna's wedding details, MSNBC left up their chyron, saying "First Lady Talks About Deadly Cyclone In Myanmar." They also continued to show images of the devastation in Myanmar while Mrs. Bush offered more information about the wedding, including the "Texas limestone altar" built by her husband.

Watch footage of the press conference: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/05/laura-bush-discusses-jenn_n_100219.html

22. If she ran, she'd win.......Texans are suckers for the "big name"
But I doubt it will happen. I think she's as lazy as George, only slightly brighter, and smart enough to just go home to hide on the ranch with her chimp boy husband and stay there for the rest of her life.

10. Another distasteful example of how their frivolous minds work. I guess the boy king & his guitar
weren't available. Did she give the press samples of Jenna's wedding cake afterward?

When the press brought the subject up, it would have been appropriate of her to say that it was for discussion later, that she was there to discuss a terrible tragedy.

Or she figures she owed the press an answeron the wedding, lest she be thought of as secretive..

46. She's been in the public eye long enough to know how to assert herself with the press.
The problem is that it just isn't in her to know that a discussion about her daughter's wedding was inappropriate at that time.

"We're very happy about the wedding, but I don't think it's appropriate to discuss it with you at this time; the focus at this moment is the Myanmar tragedy, which is the reason for this press conference."

Why should that be so hard for her? Because it's not in her.

12. By far the worst part is the fawning batch of presstitutes
Just look at them on the video...they're part of it.

I understand Pickles the Stepford wife being happy over the impending marriage of her drunken daughter.

But just look how the mediawhores suck up; I understand they can't see the chyron, but that's no excuse.

Here is Pickles talking about death and destruction. They sit silently. Then some press wag asks her about Jenna the Drunken Chainsmoker's wedding and all of a sudden, everything is all flowers and shits and giggles.

The news has been canceled.

That's really horrifying.

39. Here's some more on that
To react to the main news of the day -- thousands of deaths from the cyclone in Burma -- Bush sends his wife out to make a statement. She criticizes the Burmese government for its failure "to issue a timely warning to citizens in the storm's path" and "to meet its people's basic needs." Reporters, too tactful to draw parallels to New Orleans, quiz her instead about daughter Jenna's wedding, and the names of future grandchildren. "George and Georgia, Georgina, Georgette," the first lady says.

16. Laura Bush is a self centered phony.

She presents a fake persona for the public that the Corp Media promotes. She is, in reality, a mean spirited, selfish, arrogant, ignorant person just like her husband. She has promoted RWing causes such as Anti-Stem Cell Funding and has campaigned for RW Candidates. Claiming that she is a Private Citizen is as bogus as her phony public persona. She champions causes such as Women's Rights in Afghanistan and schools for Iraqis and Afghans but it is merely lip service because she does nothing about these causes nor does she contribute any of her own money towards them. . Laura Bush is a vapid, phony person and should be shunned yet she remains popular with the millions in America because the Corp Media goes along with her charade.

21. I'm far more upset at the press
She is the wife of the president. She hasn't been elected to anything and has no real responsibility.

The press on the other hand are supposed to be watchdogs trusted to be competent and professional. Jesus fucking christ. These people need to watch their influence on civilization die a miserable death as legit watchdogs arise on the internet to do their job for them.

Alot of it is our fault though. I'm sure that Jenna's wedding is a bigger news issue for huge swaths of the public than a cyclone in Myanmar, which 80% of the public probably know nothing about.

Damn right I'm an elitist.

33. One option would have been...
...to say "This isn't the time to discuss this" or something similar. The reporters brought up the subject, she thanked them, everyone had a little laugh when she was asked "Any chance of letting us cover it" and that should have been it.

36. Yeah, well, she's a mother and also First Lady of the U.S....
...and she was center-stage at a press conference to discuss a natural disaster that has claimed 22,000 lives, with another 41,000 missing (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24478247/).

She should have realized that it wasn't her moment. She didn't.

I'd be willing to bet on it seeing as how he like to play dress up as a ranch hand and brush clearer and pilot. No reason to think he did anything other than play dressup while the real altar builder finished the job.
