An unappreciated teacher is reminding you it's Teacher Appreciation Day
I just went in to grab a cup of coffee and saw a note next to a bowl of chocolate wishing us all Happy Teacher Appreciation Day.

A couple years ago our superintendent sent us a case of rotten apples. So I guess chocolate is an improvement?

Anyhow, thank your teachers today. Chances are the admins they work for won't do diddly squat to show their appreciation.

:hi:

46. I'm sorry you're district doesn't do anything ;(
It's really big here. Yesterday PTO did a catered lunch. Tomorrow the kids bring in cards, store bought or home-made. I working on finishing 8 for my son. He's in a special needs class, so he's got lots of teachers. :) Thursday, PTO provides each teacher with a treat. Friday there is a dessert bar. I'm making lemon bars and fudge brownies.

10. I thought it was Teacher Appreciation Week
this week and not just one day. My little one received instructions from parents much better organized than us indicating different items to bring in for the teacher on every day of this week.

further i have been in two other schools and they were pretty kick ass too, so i have only seen the positive with adm and they value the teachers.

and yes.... these two schols make a HUGE deal of the teachers, more than once a year and i am all for it as i too make a big deal letting them know how much i appreciate them thru out the year

39. Bless the teachers.
I have no idea how you do it. I loved my grade school and middle school teachers and cried every year when I left them until I was about 12. But these good teachers had to put up with *a lot* not only from the kids, but from the parents.

40. What Makes You Think You Are Unappreciated?
Honestly, just what makes you think you are unappreciated???!!!

Because your superintendent doesn't gush appreciation??

Is your measure of appreciation what your superintendent does??!!

I would bet that the people that really count -- your students -- do appreciate you!

And they will continue to appreciate you long after your superintendent forgets you.

Do not look to your administrator for appreciation.

Look to your students.

They appreciate what you do.

THAT should be more than enough. And their appreciation certainly beats chocolate or cards.

42. I am so glad you posted this!!!!!!!
I bought some pastries and cookies (along with a cake) and a thank you card for each of the teachers at my daughters school today to celebrate national teachers appreciation day. The office staff were stunned. LOL. Apparently not many knew it was national teachers day...even the office staff. :( Teachers are so important to our children and sadly they are usually overlooked when it comes to recognition of any kind. They give their time and money to the students that come through their classrooms year after year. I just wanted them to know that they were not forgotten. Thanks again for the post. :hi: :hi:

44. My principal hired someone to give us 15 min massages today.
The massage therapist set up her chair in the prinicpal's office today, so not only did she pay out of her own pocket for us to be pampered, she was (cheerfully) displaced all day. Not all admins are thoughtless. In fact, our whole admin team rocks, but all of our district's admins are female, from the supt on down (the men are relegated to the asst prin positions, lol). I am convinced this is why our district is such an awesome one for which to work.
