I know it wont and cant happen .....
but wouldn't it be GREAT if someone could be flying a small plane over the Jenna Spectacle wedding with a banner saying either "WORST PRESIDENT EVER" OR " BUSH: WAR CRIMINAL".

1. NO. I think it is STUPID, actually. Jenna said she might vote for the DEMOCRATIC nominee.
Why punish her because her father is an ass? It's not her fault, she can't choose her heritage.

How vicious.

Because I'm pretty sure that's not what she said. ;)

4. Why don't YOU share it, since you seem to have memorized it.
I really don't give a fuck who she votes for. She could be a Nader fan, for all I care. And I think Nader is an old fool.

I think anyone who thinks it is "cool" to disrupt a young girl's wedding, even if she isn't a Nobel Prize winner or a candidate for the Mother Theresa mantle, has some serious issues. That is a sick and DISPICABLE act, a vicious, cruel, attention-grabbing, and idiotic exercise that will have the opposite of the intended effect.

Instead of protesting the war, it will signal to anyone hearing about it that anti-war activists are such shitheads that they'll crap on the most important day in a private citizen's life, JUST to 'get' her father.

Dis-fucking-spicable. STUPID. Idiotic.

10. That isn't a dream, it's a NIGHTMARE for the anti-war movement.
And anyone with two brain cells to rub together who actually thinks about the idea, big picture, sees that. It isn't even helpful to JOKE about that kind of shit. It just throws a log on the rightwing fire.

Circle the Pentagon dressed in Sunday best, holding hands, and sing GIVE PEACE A CHANCE. That would take organization, coordination, and a LOT of people. THAT would be a great photo op.

Don't chuckle about screwing with some kid's wedding with a plane ride no one would even see. That's just LOW.

At first I agreed with the OP, but your words changed my mind. I think you're absolutely right in what you say.

There's good tactics and bad tactics. This would definitely be bad tactics.

26. I sympathize with your frustration and anger.
There is some progress being made, so there is hope, but it is painfully slow progress. Ignorance is the enemy. I guess that's the enemy of all just causes, and wow, there's no shortage of that around. Even when I think of Bush's approval rating it's discouraging. People are amazed that only 28% of Americans approve of him. If you look at that one way, that's good and encouraging. Look at it another way and that means almost 100 million Americans are utterly stupid, and that's pretty frightening.

I still do think, though, that any kind of commotion or disruption at the wedding would be counter-productive. The Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world would get far more mileage out of that than we would.

Would you be willing to maybe put out a pamphlet with complete guidelines for those of us unfamiliar with all the protest rules?

That might be helpful.

try to be rational, and note that I didn't agree that the OP had a good idea. I'm interested in your statement that Jenna might vote Democratic. I've seen a quote where she states she wants to investigate all the candidates, and though you can draw assumptions from that, it's not at all the same as saying she could VOTE dem.

If you want me to dig up my quote, fine, but it won't prove or disprove yours. I'm just looking for some sources, so chill.

8. I beg your pardon?
Try to be rational? Why don't you try to READ what I write without making assumptions.

Was I talking about YOU, specifically, and your wishes and desires WRT Jenna, in that post? Why NO, I was not.

I simply asked YOU to provide the quote. My remarks following that referenced the idea postulated in the OP.

Why is it, that when the shoe doesn't fit, that so many here are eager to snatch up that delicate little zapato and cram their big hairy foot into it anyway?

Now THAT is a mind-boggler, too.

IIRC, it was her wedding interview with Larry King, her mother was with her. But I won't do your homework for you.

14. Ok, obviously the last rant wasn't enough
you have a few more rants left in you, Fine.

When you get around to it, feel free to look up a quote where Jenna says she may vote Dem. And BTW - thats not MY homework. You made the post, you claimed the knowledge, so YOU backup the claim. I'm not even challenging you to a duel, I just want to see the quote.

And don't beg, its embarrassing :)

19. Why do you call a simple objection a "rant?" You wouldn't want to see me rant.
You brought up an objection to my assertion; YOU were the one who said I was wrong--so you go on and PROVE it, or be silent.

Beg, schmeg. I was being polite--better than saying something about your head wedged up a part of your anatomy, or something along those lines.

If anyone's begging, it's you--begging to change the subject, and pretend you weren't the one who made an opposing claim. Prove your claim.

(Cue Jeopardy! Theme....)

23. Ok, you asked
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/_98407.html

from Larry King

KING: Do you have a favorite between the two, the two Democrats?

L. BUSH: My favorite is the Republican.

(LAUGHTER)

KING: Yours, too, I would imagine.

J. BUSH: I don't know.

KING: A-ha. J. BUSH: But, I mean, you know --

KING: Are you open to --

J. BUSH: Yes, of course. I mean, who isn't open to learning about the candidates? But, I mean, and I'm sure everybody is like that. But I really -- I honestly have been too busy with books to really pay that much attention.

L. BUSH: No, no, the way they talk about the president.

KING: Oh.

L. BUSH: For somebody who wants to be the president, I think maybe it's a good idea not to talk about the president that way. But anyway, that's my advice to them

24. I played nice, now it's your turn.
You took everything I wrote as a personal attack on your character, and your point. I tried to explain, but you are too full of yourself to listen, or read.

Obviously, Jenna Bush did NOT say she would vote Democratic during the Larry King Interview. You were wrong. Guess what? It's ok to be wrong. Look in the mirror, did you head crack open? No? Told ya so!

Now, if you have any quote where she does say she'll vote Dem, great. Produce it, and I'll be happy, I'll thank you, and light a freaking candle for you. All I ever wanted was the quote, as it sounds interesting.

Would you please produce, now, so we can all enjoy it?

27. Well, you start out with a falsehood, so where else is there to go but up, I suppose?
Where, pray tell, do I "take everything" that your wrote as a "personal attack?"

You made some points, and I responded.

That's not "personal." But then, there are way too many people on this forum who don't understand what a "personal attack" is.

A "personal attack" is not a disagreement, an argument, or a discussion. A personal attack is directed straight at an individual.

Examples of personal attacks--I am not speaking of YOU, mind you, these are simply illustrative:

YOU are an asshole. YOU are an idiot. YOU are a cheat.

YOU are a Republican. YOU are a liar.

Fuck YOU. Fuck YOU and the horse you rode in on.

YOU are insane, YOU are (insert racial/gender/orientation slur).

THOSE are examples of personal attacks--vicious invective directed against an individual or their character.

You lit this shit off, and I don't know why--perhaps you were looking for a fight. It IS customary, if you dispute someone's conclusions, that you provide a cite in refutation. That's "normal." Instead, you indulged in a gratuitous back-n-forth that doesn't make the thesis of this sorry thread any more attractive.

And it looks like she didn't say she'd vote for the Democrat, but it doesn't look like she said she'd vote for the Republican, either, did it? Sometimes, the first answer is the most honest:

KING: Yours, too, I would imagine.

    J. BUSH: I don't know.

You can interpret her words however you'd like. Paint her as an idiot or a fool. Paint her as someone who isn't like her father, and maybe more like her mother, who was a Democrat until she got married. Paint her as someone who's sick of the shit. Paint her as a liar.

I don't "know" her, and I'm guessing you don't either. Disrupting her wedding to make an anti-war "point" was the premise of this absurd thread. Your tangential argument simply keeps this lunacy kicked.

Have the last word!
:hi:

15. FYI
Laura B had just said, after being asked, that she would vote for the Republican candidate in November. Then LKing turned to Jenna and said in deffect: "and so would you,of course" and Jenna with a "I can't be told what to do" valley girl vacant look said: "I don't know, I have to think about it. My mind has been on the book, mostly"

An answer like this clearly shows me there is no mind.

I think the Banner should say: 258 more days
Jenna would think that it means that's how long she'll be married.

LOL

9. She's trying to keep the wedding out of the public eye.
She can't keep it out completely if reporters are asking Pickles about it, but I think we should just leave her alone. I haven't heard of any nasty bridezilla moments coming from her, so I think we should let her have her day, free of politics.

18. We the people elected a Democratic Congress in 2006,
and what have they done?

As we are a constitutionally limited republic, we the people have done what we can, electing people to represent out interests. If they don't represent our interests, we can hopefully elect some who will.
