6. Same student said that the Cold War was when Louis XIV invaded Russia.
You don't spend much time on it. Just give it the big fat zero and move on to the next student, hoping that some learned SOMETHING in the class.

:D

would have been to mention Napoleon's and Hitler's failures in the Russian winters.

LOL.

24. Then you must know that, once upon a time, "Life Reeked with Joy". . .
“History,” declared Henry Ford, “is bunk.” And yet, to paraphrase George Santayana, those who forget history and the English language are condemned to mangle them. Historian Anders Henriksson, a five-year veteran of the university classroom, has faithfully recorded, from papers submitted by freshmen at McMaster University and the university of Alberta, his students' more striking insights into European history from the Middle Ages to the present. Possibly as an act of vengeance, Professor Henriksson has now assembled these individual fragments into a chronological narrative . . .

41. There are multiple versions of this running around. . .
first time I read it -- maybe 25 years ago -- it was different from what's on the linked website. I remember there was a comment in the older version about one of the composers, Brahms I believe, that said something like "he was half English, half French, and half German. He was very large." I believe I have the older version somewhere in my archives. If I can find it, I'll email it to you.

Googling that.....

YES!! I was right:
D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one.
Bluto: Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
Bluto: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
(thinks hard)
Bluto: the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
(runs out, alone; then returns)

My question, after seeing that sign, is how on earth do we have any say on who hosts the Olympics? We don't allow anything. The IOC makes the call, and a bad call has been made.

33. I went back to college...
...to finish my degree when I was in my 40's( 20 years ago).
Found my department head didn't know the years of the beginning and end of the Civil War, not even the decade, and little else about history, even of the Vietnam era, which she had lived through.
She had taken "Social Studies", and skipped learning that pesky "History".

Now with Mr. Bush as an example for today's young people, do we expect an improvement in eddicatin?

I am reeking with joy!
