Rove Warns GOP of Tough Race

Karl Rove: "This will be a very difficult year for Republicans. The economy's shaky state, an unpopular war, and the natural desire for partisan change after eight years of one party in the White House have helped tilt the balance to the Democrats."

However, Sen. John McCain "is the best candidate Republicans could have picked in this environment. With the GOP brand low, his appeal to moderates and independents becomes even more crucial."

8. If you think this year is difficult Karl wait until we have a Democratic
Administration and Justice Department. Wait until you don't have an Attorney General that's willing to cover for your treasonous criminal ass.

10. I love how the GOP keeps referring to the GOP 'brand'
like they're selling laundry soap or rounding up cattle!! It's a sales process not a method/manner of governing. Madison Ave will elect the next round of government.

12. If he says that, there is a trick up his sleeve
He has had a part in stealing the past 2 elections. He still works behind the scenes. We just may end up with the repugs "winning" again...

The elections returns the other night were quite interesting.

In Indiana, for example, both Hillary and Obama pulled down double the votes that McCain did.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/state/#IN

Indiana is the state that elected Bob Dole. It's ALWAYS republican, still both Democrats pulled down huge numbers in the primary. NC went the same way. Huge numbers for the Dems compared to McCain.

It would appear that McCain wasn't a very wise choice for the GOP. But Rove, the numbers guy, anoints him anyway?

Heck of a job, Karlie!

The Republicans must REALLY know that they're in trouble now for Rove to say so publicly, particularly when Bush & Rove kept their heads planted firmly in the sand during the run up to the 2006 midterm elections by constantly insisting that they would remain in control of Congress. Unfortunately, as this IS Rove we are talking about, one should probably not read too much into his comments. I'm pretty sure that he, along with the GOP National Committee, have some kind of nefarious scheme waiting in the wings to attempt to ensure McCain's election in November but can't really hatch it, of course, until we have settled on a nominee. Hopefully, we'll be able to do a MUCH better job of thwarting their plans whatever they may be than we have in the past two elections and McCain seems to be one of the weaker GOP candidates in recent history (especially once we unify around a candidate and can begin attacking him in earnest) but it will nonetheless require CONSTANT VIGILANCE! on our part to win in November. The election, unfortunately, is by no means assured for us, but the odds seem to be better this year than they have been since............?

20. Look for him to "distance" himself with more observational commentary......
He does not want to be linked directly to a disastrous election year, although in reality the republicans can thank Rove and Delay for there current state of affairs. You follow losers, you become a loser.
