Mother Jones reports that conservative televangelist Rod Parsley has delivered hate-filled sermons calling Islam “the greatest religious enemy of our civilization and the world.” The historic mission of America was to see “this false religion destroyed,” he added. At a public event in March, John McCain embraced Parsley’s endorsement of him and hailed the preacher as “one of the truly great leaders in America, a moral compass, a spiritual guide.” Watch this video highlighting the McCain and Parsley relationship:

If we were at the dawn of an era when every pastor everywhere got called on his or her bullshit? Besides being emotionally satifying, it would really hurt the Republicans' ability to keep their base in line.
