6. most stores in our city are out of rice, all kinds

the bulk bins are empty as are the packaged rice. It appears that folks are freaking out and buying all they can when they can.
We are growing a garden as per usual this year. We are also donating goodies to food banks, etc.

Between the food crisis and the foreclosure crisis, our country is in huge trouble. Last night I heard that over 200 families were turned away from family shelters in Portland, Or. in the past month! Many are living in their cars.

8. Today is the US Post Office's annual Stamp Out Hunger day

Leave out a bag of nonperishable food items before your mail carrier comes today. They'll take it back to the post office where it will then be delivered to a local food bank. :thumbsup:

10. Five years ago it cost me $20 to fill my gas tank. Today it cost me

$42. Fortunately, I only have to feed myself and my dogs. I can't imagine what people with kids are facing!
