thank you all very much for participating in the letter carrier food drive!
it is truly a worthwhile cause and helps many people. I wasn't able to participate in picking it up, as I'm on light duty recovering from rotator cuff surgery. But I was able to help in the aftermath, where we weigh the big gpc's that hold the food or normally the mail!

My station in Lakewood, CO was doing pretty good, although some carriers thought that we might be down some from last year. That wouldn't surprise me, as everyone is having a tough time. Before I left though, we had already loaded up a semi full of food and we were working on our second! And some of you may be happy to know that my friend, who is the food drive co-coordinator made the food banks promise not to collect any payment on any of the food that we donated. That is another bit of trivia that I learned from DU, that food banks charge for their food!

Again, thank everyone very much. To the people at the food banks, I think that they're really moved by the sight of all of this food, as they see firsthand the people that need their help.

1. I tried, but the letter carrier never picked up the food I left out.
It's still sitting on my porch. :(

2. Is your mailbox on your porch? Wow. My mailman got mine, and
I didn't notice any others on the block. :(

6. Yes, I put the bag that was left in my box the previous day on a chair on the porch
right under the mailbox. No way could they have missed it. But I didn't get any mail, either.

11. Raining, actually.
No sleet, snow or dark of night, though.

4. Same thing happened to my best friend and I. Both of us put a
ba of groceries out and neither her postman nor mine picked them up, and it's not like they wouldn't have noticed them. I'm baffled.

5. sorry about that ocelot maybe they were having a "blonde" moment
if you're near the P.O. they will still accept it into next week. Or hopefully, the carrier will pick it up next week. Now, I do have to admit that a select few of my coworkers are a bit on the lazy side and resent this extra work. I apologize for them- they're just being incredibly selfish.

9. I volunteered at the post office in Irvine for the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive
There was a LOT of food! There were food products that I didn't even know existed. The one I volunteered at was put together by America's Second Harvest. I was recruited as a volunteer at the local DFA meeting!

18. Mine was picked up....
and I had set it in the road in front of my mail box. A couple of my neighbors asked me about it and when I told them what it was for, they both went in a put out a bag. They were all picked up.
