I'm Entirely Sick of the Negative Posts Regarding Jenna's Wedding!...
C'mon people -- Jenna isn't to blame for the sins of her father.

Can we all be adults here?

4. No one hates Bush's rape of America more than myself...
Yeah, it's easy to use lazy rhetoric to preach to the choir (I've done my share of that in the past).

But ask yourself a hard question. Are you willing to forgo the easy comment in favor of the thoughtful statement?

3. then don't read them
there is a thread "ignore" button.

She married a former assistant of Karl Rove. She, like her mother, will probably be very accountable for making the choice to marry someone with seemingly less moral integrity than your average canadian goose.

10. Why impugn the moral integrity of Canadian geese?
That's just uncalled for imo.

6. Thank you!...
The only thing more boring than a wedding among strangers is a wedding I'm obliged to attend.

8. Do you mean responses like this one that I posted last night??
Someone asked if it was necessary to wish them good luck in their marriage and I said:

I think we should wish my daughter and her fiancee good luck instead.

She is a teacher who could not find a teaching job here in Michigan after she graduated. She finally took a low paying job teaching kids with learning disabilities and vision problems at a small learning center. She has student loans still to pay off for the five years of college that she had to have to become a teacher. Her fiancee is an assistant with the school district helping handicapped kids get on and off the bus. It does not pay too much. He is trying to become a Detroit Police Officer so he can make a little more money although we worry about him being killed on the job in a city that has become more violent because of the economy and job losses. They managed to scrape up enough money to buy one of our numerous foreclosed homes here in Michigan for $68,000.00 and the whole family has been painting and fixing it up with them for the past two months so they could actually live in it. They both have car payments. The price of gas and food has gone up around here so much that I think they will have to eat at our house most days just to make ends meet. They are going to have to get married at the Justice of the Peace or something because we are all struggling so bad we could never afford to even give them a small wedding without taking out a loan. She says, "That's alright, Mom. I really did not want a big wedding anyway." Yeah sure. Good luck Jenna Bush. Tell your Dad that we thank him so much for improving our quality of life for the past seven years. Better yet..Tell him I said to fuck off.

19. I know its absolutely no consolation, given the dreams of a little girl..
But marriage is in your heart; not some fancy reception or dress. Love is eternal blessings to share the joys and sorrows of life with a partner. Its the struggle sometimes that makes a marriage stronger. I too marched to the court house and married my hubby. We had and still have very limited funds. We too took a foreclosed property and have spent time making it a home; an appreciated home.

At the same time, its not right what has happened to this country. It is a wasteland while they dance and eat cake. But as perspective goes, as I'm often reminded on this board when I become too philosophical, we are still better off than most of this world... While your children have a home to build a life upon; many do not.

Congratulations to your children on their wedding (I'll pluralize it, your gaining a son). AND Happy Mother's Day to you. You have raised a good daughter to pursue the love of teaching over the love of money... Thank you to you.

They can't help who their parents are.

17. Has the wedding been all over the corporate news?
Edited on Sun May-11-08 06:54 AM by fasttense
I don't watch the crap that passes for news on corporate/republican owned media outlets. Are they making a big to do about it?

I think celebrity wedding "news" is worse than royal wedding "news". They both are elitist, extraordinarily excessive expenditures trying to pass as a show of love. It is nothing but a display of conspicuous consumption.

22. The wedding is just yet another in an endless line of distractions
that the media gets to fill our mushy skulls with so we don't have to think about anything important.

The only thing worth mentioning about either of the Bush kids is to note that neither one believes enough in their daddy's "War on Terror" to have signed up for the military. Might be something that anyone who is considering signing up should consider.
