What exactly is going on in Italy?
Most of us can say without a doubt that the Yellowcake Forgeries started with the fascist movement in Italy.

It was Berlusconi's owned media that ordered a reporter to give a copy of the forged documents to the American embassy
It was Berlusconi's same media that ordered the reporter not to investigate the forged documents, just pass them along
And I think the reason why Britain says the forged documents were credible (even a long time after everyone else said they weren't) is because they knew the true source of the forgeries, which would be Berlusconi and his allies.

Now, Berlusconi and friends are in power and many questions about the Yellowcake Forgeries have yet to be answered. But, a new problem also surfaces. Berlusconi puts Mussolini's granddaughter in his cabinet, and apparently being a right wing sociopath runs in the family. There have been sightings of Italians praising Mussolini's allies with Nazi salutes, and Berlusconi himself has started using coded language to communicate with fascists during speeches (Ex: Berlusconi has recently said "We are the new Falange." The Falange was the name of the fascist movement led by Franco in Spain).

What are they up to?
What is really going on here?

While the complicit media, the pundits, the Republicans, and the Bush Administration talks tough about 'islamo-fascists', I kind of get the feeling that if they see an ACTUAL fascist somewhere then they will probably:

A. Run to somewhere safe
B. Barricade themselves inside that place
C. Cower for their very lives

It's time for Congressional investigations to get a hint of what is going on and urging governments of the possibility to cut off ties with Italy, we can not afford fascists to make a comeback, and I don't know what else Berlusconi and his buddies have planned, but I'm pretty sure that none of us want to find out what it is.

4. THANK you for bringing up the CFR and TC.
Not nearly enough examination of those organizations on DU.
Always a well timed show of CT posters responding when
the matter is brought up...

3. You make some very good points.
For now, I am going to wait and see what other comments come out of Europe. The rest of them lived through the Nazi era and the World War II occupations. They are closer to it, and I will trust their reactions.

Italy should never have allowed this to happen to itself. But look at us, with the Bush regime. Maybe the rest of Europe will have to isolate Italy and express their disapproval, if the Italians can't do any better.

7. I agree and believe the Italian people are undergoing a severe attack...
of buyers remorse - like CT voters with LIEberman and all those people who now claim to have never voted for *.

Europe will isolate Italy, if necessary, and that's just the beginning if he won't come to heel.

5. Something that deserves watching
But I don't think we need to start ringing alarm bells just yet.

Now if say, Russia, went overtly fascist and revanchist, that's the time to start digging a deep hole and praying like it was going out of style.
