10. Yep; just buy a soda and tip generously; just make sure the establishment makes NO profit!
Do we have any savvy DUers in the area who could make this happen? Hopefully, with Obama badges?

13. There is precedent for that in Ga.
I and a few of my close friends were visiting Atlanta from N.O. At the time, the Cracker Barrel chain of restaurants had notoriously homophobic hiring practices. (This was in the early '90s.)

So, we and a bunch of Atlanta progressives (not 200, alas) went down to a Cracker Barrel in Union City, got in line and filled the entire restaurant. One fellow who got caught up in this said, "Screw this, I'm going to McDonald's!" The difference was that we ordered iced tea rather than water. If anyione tries this, and I hope they do, remember to leave a big tip (in the $5 range) so the working people don't get urt, just the bigoted Lester Maddox wannabe of an owner.

14. Precisely--make them operate at a loss but be generous to the wait staff.
I'd say more like $10-25 dollars apiece if it's affordable--otherwise they lose money big time by being unable to turn over an unprofitable table.

Order a soda/ice tea, etc and nothing else. The restaurant will lose money by the bucketful and the word will spread areoun the internets.

3. Why do they have a picture of George Bush on the Obama t-shirt?
And what's with the goofy, upside-down apostrophe? It should look like a 9, not a 6. Not very bright, these guys.

6. Not very bright. Welcome to my neighbors
well, I actually live a good distance from these racist fuckheads, but it's par for the course among white Southron males of the GOP persuasion.

They'd repeal slavery if given the chance.

15. You see that upside-down apostrophe all the time
It's an opening single quote. Because of the way "smart quotes" works (if there's a space to the left of the mark, use the opening quote, anything else causes the closing quote to be used) you have to type a character, hit the quote-mark key, type the number, then go back and delete the character to the left of the quote.

Or you can do it like I do: type a 0, then the quote, then hit left-arrow (puts the cursor between the character and the quote), backspace (deletes the character), right-arrow (puts you to the right of the quote), then resume typing.

Before you can do it, though, you have to realize that the computer automagically puts the wrong character on the page.

11. Offended by the imagery: yes
More offended by the upside-down apostrophe before the 08, but that's just the proofreader/editor in me.
Get a brain, morans! And realize that just because word processing programs are built with "smart quotes," there are workarounds.

(Double post, double reply.)
