I couldn't find where this fascinating letter from Newt Gingrich had been yet posted on these forums. I think that it is either a clever ruse or a cry for help from the GOP. Most likely the former if recent history holds steady:

1. The GOP has been such a savior... the global economy has boomed in the past eight years, right?
They spent all the money, and then some. Forget global economy, it's all about debt management now.
