Doug Feith on the daily show
http://www.thedailyshow.com/

Brilliant interview.

I also love the 'errors are not lies' line. So, the Bish adminstration aren't liars they're idiots....that's better.

1. Jon smacked Dougie around pretty well last night! I was expecting
Doug to push his chair away and storm off the set! I guess I have to give Doug a little credit for sticking it out and enduring the ridicule.

2. Well of course. It was all just a professional error in judgment.
Sounds like something a corporate drone would say. :eyes:

5. Yeah, you could tell he realized he can't hide behind his shit in that situation
Which is why he suddenly got quiet a couple times. He still tried to stay on message though. Thank god John wouldn't fall for that shit.

I'll watch anyone on The Daily Show except Dennis Miller.

7. Dennis Miller makes me sick. Cannot listen to a word out of his mouth (speaking of which,
have you noticed his new teeth?).

4. The best point was the one John made at the end
About not deciding what's best for us and slanting the facts to gain support because you think you're somehow just "right"

6. Doug Feith is a professor in the Political Science department at Duke University.
Duke should be ashamed of itself. Feith has admitted that he is stupid and incompetent! What's he doing on the faculty of a leading university?

at Berkeley too. Why are these criminals running around free?

17. I would think that these institutions would be worried about their academic reputations.
It's one thing to have jerks on faculty. Every institution has those. But self-admitted stupid, incompetent jerks? Are the institutions of higher education selling themselves this cheap?

9. Dougie and company are very busy rewriting history
they KNOW they might face war crimes trials over their nice little and wonderful war...

Damn it that the rest of us have memories, but they will do all they can to rewrite that history...

It is called laying out a defense

11. Is Feith's book entitled, "This Administration & the NeoCons Aren't As Smart As a Fifth-Grader"?
Edited on Tue May-13-08 01:31 PM by sinkingfeeling
Seems to me that Feith admitted that they are total incompetents and not qualified to run a 'foreign policy'. Jon should have nailed him about the 'list' of ME countries the Neocons have wanted to take out for a decade or two.

12. What a liar!
Let's not criticize Mr. Stewart for not calling Mr. Feith a liar point blank. It's would be form to invite a guest to one's domain in order to publicly call him a liar.

Instead, let's praise Mr. Stewart for handing Feith more than enough rope to hang himself. Feith's answers were uncertain and hesitant. He ignored the evidence against the case they made against Saddam, such as Scott Ritter's assertion, based on his experience as chief weapons inspector, that Iraq had no chemical or biological agents that would be of any use to them. Ritter was right. Mr. Feith also ignores how his own agency, the OSP, used discredited information, such as the report of a meeting in Prague between 911 hijacker Mohammad Atta and an Iraqi intelligence agent, to bolster the case that Iraq and Al Qaida were cooperating. Feith was not only wrong, he had to know he was wrong. In other words, he was lying.

The idea that the Bushies made "errors" but did not attempt to deceive the American people is just nonsense. Let the war crimes trials begin. Call defendant Douglas Feith.

14. Review: Feith's book, "a really slow read" - J. Stewart
If Feith went on The Daily Show to sell his book, I think it was "Mission Not Accomplished" for him.

18. My only wish was that Jon
had brought up the ONE MILLION DEAD in Iraq. Those are some mighty serious ERRORS. But then, NO ONE on the TEE VEE brings up that unfortunate fact.

20. "A lot of people MISREMEMBERED."
I liked Jon's slap-down at the end, where Feith admitted that the pretext of war with Iraq was based on a lot of "ifs": Basically, that we would have to go to war with 15 countries based on their way of thinking.
