Edited on Tue May-13-08 02:12 PM by DFW
It told me I wasn't getting anything.

Maybe someone told them that I would have just signed it over to the DNC...........

*on edit: my SS# ends in 50, so even if they have changed their minds, it's news
to me, and I get my mail forwarded over here from the States, so I wouldn't even find
out about it for a few weeks anyhow.

7. Did you get a refund or have to pay?
I learned yesterday that if you had to pay, as we did, you have to wait. Our last two numbers are 41, and as near as I can tell, we won't get our check until June 13, even though I asked for direct deposit.

11. Got a refund
I am pretty sure that b/c I used turbo tax it's coming via SNAIL MAIL! I was confused b/c my ex got his check and he did his taxes on line and direct deposited, but whatever program he used (not TT) didn't charge him to file his taxes...so he got his last Friday. Bastard!

23. I filed with TurboTax, too
but I seem to remember that the program specifically asked if I wanted the rebate direct deposited and asked for an account number, which I gave. It seems cosmically unjust that people who just received a refund get their "stimulus" sooner while those of us who had to scrape up the money to send them ($2710 in our case) have to wait.

36. If you used Turbo Tax
and had their fee deducted from your refund (as I did), the check will be coming by mail. I was expecting last Friday and did some digging and went to the turbo tax website and found the info there. This link will take you to the reason.

We owe from the year before and again this year so we aren't going to be able to help the economy. Boo Hoo

I was worried about it because I do his taxes. But he got his money according to the schedule. Now if you went to one of those tax preparation services and used one of their financial services, you will be mailed a check by the middle of June.

send them out until mid-June.

Someone mentioned on another thread that people who used Turbo Tax may have their stimulus delayed for some reason or another.

12. Mine ends in 28
and it was deposited in my account last Friday. That is also where it will stay because I refuse to let George say he helped stimulate the economy. He is the one who screwed it up and a Democrat will be the one to fix it. I will spend it on Inauguration Day when a Democrat is sworn in so we get the credit for the economy getting better.

I thought I was direct deposit, but it hasn't hit my bank yet.

The IRS voicemail system said my check will be mailed on June 6. I think I may not be getting direct deposit because I didn't use their e-filing systems but went with TurboTax, instead.

44. Social Services and Privitization - Sent to Idaho legislature
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I started working in
Idaho in the early 1990s just when the privatization hysteria
started - "self reliance" and "privatizing
health and welfare programs." Now in 2008 we have almost
all social workers and counselors working on the
"billable hour," using their own cars, buying their
own gas, and getting paid only for face-to-face contact with
clients. The result is that we make half what we did before,
pay our own expenses, have no federal employment rights
because we are on contract, have no health insurance, have no
insurance for transporting clients and are withering away
socially, financially and morally. I have had collegues that
live in their cars and cheat on billing to eat.

The social welfare system in Idaho has grown larger, costs
more, and now supports a public sector of regulation and a
private sector of pure corruption. PSR (psychosocial
rehabilitation) workers baby sit clients for hours at $45-$55
per hour playing games and cards - doing "play
therapy." The public sector regulates us so completely
that it takes up to 8 hours to do the initial paperwork for
one client. We never look at the paperwork again because we
don't get paid for anything except personal contact and
wasting our time writing it and trying to make the narrative
sound like we are accomplishing something.

The only thing we are accomplishing is keeping the ever
increasing population of mentally, sick, and impoverished out
of the way of the corporate and cosmopolitan population. And,
most of us are so broke and so demoralized that we don't care
anymore. In the mean time the rich social service corporation
owners are getting richer on our backs and the social workers
and counselors will soon join the impoverished ranks of our
clients.

This is the utopia privatization beings to us all.
We need to go back to public run social services
