The first one is of my mom from 1942, the second is of my daughter 2007.
Both were taken while we were in a war. The first one is while a world war went on and were fighting the Nazi's, the second one while we were fighting a country that had never attacked us or even posed a threat to us.
The third one is yet another kid, who will grow up knowing his parent died in this latest war, the brainchild of bush and crew.
My daughter is smiling because I am not shipped overseas where someone is trying to kill me daily. I am home, with her, and we hug each other everyday.
In the first one people here in the US had come together for common causes - to stop the Nazi's. We worked together to save the US and others from them.
In the third one we see the pain of war today - a lesson we SHOULD have learned a long time ago. But our leaders, on both sides of the aisle, have forgotten. War is hell. And there are many victims of it from here to Iraq. From mental problems for our troops, to kids losing their parents, to people losing their lives. And yet we STILL fund the war.
Look at these pics - for those we see in them are the most affected. Our own kids. And the kids of those we are at war with. And every payday I am reminded as I look at the taxes taken out of my check, that my hard work and money is used for this war. And it angers me.
I don't blame our troops, it is the leaders I have problems with. And they won't even take a moment to look at it all and how it affects those most innocent and powerless among us, the kids.
They see only money, votes, and 'mission accomplished'.
Yeah, my mom and my daughter were smiling - they have not been through the hell that little boy was in #3.
