Utah to Save the US from oil crisis!!!
http://www.sltrib.com/columnists/ci_9251451

"Delegates at the Salt Lake County Republican Convention May 8 passed a resolution on energy independence that states, "Utah alone has enough oil and natural gas resources to supply the United States for tens of thousands of years."
Two delegates - a geologist and an engineer - stood to speak against the resolution because, they said, that statement was blatantly false.
But they were talking to Utah Republicans, who have shown disdain for science getting in the way of ideological blustering.
The resolution cited as its source "members of the Utah State Legislature," the same body where the statement once was made that since there is a dog species, and there is a cat species, but there is no "dat" species, the theory of evolution obviously is bunk."

 wow. Just wow.

I'm not from Utah, but I've been there and if the Utahan repigs love their God, then how can they destroy one of His most beautiful creations on Earth?

10. I can't get this out of my mind! So, I'd like to ask these brilliant Republicans when the drilling
of every square inch of Utah is to begin. I think maybe that should start by razing their state Capitol building and looking for the oil and gas under it. Then wipe out all of Salt Lake County.

15. Oil shale is a very inefficient fuel source.
The costs, both monetary and to the environment would outweigh the benefits of using kerogen for fuel. Those guys in Utah have wanted to exploit the oil shale for as long as I can remember. Now they are lying to themselves again.

16. In the "Mad Max" world that is coming, the resolution may be entirely true.

In the "Mad Max" world that is coming, the resolution
may be entirely true. We seem to be doing nothing to
head off any number of catastrophes so, after these,
there will be very few oil and gas consumers and under
those conditions, Utah's reserves will, indeed, last
millenia.
