Have to share a comment on Anita Bryant by Gore Vidal. You may have heard it, but if not, it dates to the era when Anita was down in Miami battling against equal rights provisions for lesbians and gays, and of course it stirred up quite a controversy.

Bryant revealed that owing to her fierce opposition, she had received death threats. These were never substantiated, but that's what she claimed.

A reporter asked Vidal if he thought Bryant's claim was true. He said,

"Death threats? I doubt it. The only people who might want to kill Anita Bryant would be music lovers."
