They limit us to 200 words -- there was so much I couldn't say.
George Bush, racing himself to the bottom, has reached new lows.
First was a ludicrous assertion that he gave up golf as a sacrifice for the troops. That assertion is a slap in the face to the troops and their families, tens of thousands of whom have sacrificed much more than a leisurely game.
I can see where in the world of Bush's elite, giving up a trifle like golf could be viewed as sacrificial. What next? Having the servants not strain his lemonade?
Then, Bush dove into the muck with his claim that Democrats are akin to Hitler's appeasers. Has he forgotten that Hitler early on was a darling of the corporate elite, or what Bush calls his "base?" He also forgets that as the Nazis rumbled into Poland, his grandfather was still providing banking services to the Third Reich, something old Prescott stopped only when the bank was seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act. There's appeasement for you.
More important, Bush seems ignorant of the fact that many who have sacrificed life and limb in his war of aggression in the Middle East are, in fact, Democrats, and are not appeasers. He just spit on those troops. Shame.
Seeing as how the paper is a right-wing rag of the first order and I live in a Republican stronghold, it will be interesting whether (a) they run it and )b) they leave in the part about Prescott the Traitor.
