So has the GOP just painted itself into a corner and forced itself into an Iran war?

Ok, so if talking to Iran is appeasement, does that mean Condi and Robert Gates can't go over there? What happens the next time the State Department tries to handle the situation? The President just forced his administration into either:

1.) Sticking to Bush's tough talk and going to war with Iran, or

2.) Backing down, flip-flopping, and negotiating with Iran

Right?

Edit: Obviously this speech isn't binding policy on the Administration, but still, I hope people remember this when we send envoys to Tehran...

1. There's a saving grace in Bush's logic

Namely, that it doesn't make any sense in the first place.

Nothing he says is reliable, especially not if one tries to read a statement of principle into it. The Regime has no principles on which to stand.
