CNN spins war funding vote as Republican victory
Even though http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll328.xml">more Democrats than Repiglicans voted today to block the latest round of war funding (at least for now), the MSM continues to insist on throwing up so much dust that the truth is but a distant fog...

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/15/house.war.funding/index.html">CNN is running the story under the headline "Republicans block Democrats' war funding bill"

So now the war funding belongs to "Democrats" and the anti-war victory belongs to the Repigs.

Amazing!

2. I think it was a victory for the republicans
Edited on Thu May-15-08 05:38 PM by Ashy Larry
Their goal was to deny education and unemployment benefits to veterans and they have succeeded for now. The republicans are just making it more clear how much contempt they have for our troops.

3. An interesting cut from the story:
The vote was 141-149, with 132 voting "present" -- a way of registering dissatisfaction with the bill without having to go on record as having opposed funding the troops...

Soooo... the Republicans found a way to "register dissatisfaction with the bill" (read: kill it), without "opposing funding for the troops."

Why couldn't the Dems ever figure out a way to do that this past year?
