NY principal tells girls...No Date...No Prom n/t
STATEN ISLAND (CBS) ― Most girls spend months finding the perfect dress and shoes for their prom. And if they don't have a boyfriend, they often go with a group of friends instead of a date.

But one school on Staten Island says no date, no prom.

The juniors at St. Peter's Girl's High School have one week to find a boy to take to prom, or they're not allowed to go. It's a new rule that has some parents upset.

"I don't think it's right because what if they don't have a boyfriend?" mother Tanya Altieri said. "They got to be forced to go bring somebody off the street, or a cousin? That's embarrassing … or your brother?"

Robin Dickerson attended St. Peter's years ago.

"Sometimes you can't get a date, sometimes they cancel, and that just isn't fair," Dickerson said. "This is something they're going to remember forever."

4. Stupidity is shameless. These people are proud to flaunt their prejudices.
I Hope the attention they're getting causes a change in these rules.

5. Poor Kids

It's a stupid policy. It just plays into that old high-school popularity paradigm were everyone needs to be pair-bonded by 16 or life's over.

I'll do what I can to dis-convince these people.

Here's an email address in case you want to give interim principal Florence Bricker the benefits of your opinion:

6. That principal has no business pushing sexuality
especially sexuality sanctioned by the school. It's a dance - let them dress up and go have fun with their friends - date or not. And tell the principal he isn't welcome there.

7. Good God.
I can't even begin to imagine what those idiots are thinking. Who is going to buy all those hideous dresses? What about the economy, for God's sake?

8. That is so old fashioned

That's the way it was when I was in high school. We had to have a date to got to the prom. So many kids lost out on a good time because of that.

It was dumb then and even dumber now, when we are supposedly more enlightened.

12. That's how my high school was -
no date no prom. I didn't go to either my junior or senior proms because I had no boyfriend and no male friend or cousin whom I could bring. It really sucked.
