I transformed into a NEOCON for 3 hours today
I have a headache and need a bath now.

On a recommendation, I went to the local muffler shop for a tailpipe and muffler today, and was tortured with 3 hours of El Rushbo blaring on the shop radio, while the shop owner working on my car is telling me how 9/11 happened because of Clinton and every other neocon Bush junta lie we have all heard before. He said to me. "Is this country insane wanting to elect that Barack Hussein guy?" and other such tripe. So I had to play along as a fellow knuckle-dragger and village idiot.

I was trapped! The guy was underneath my car with a cutting torch, welder, grinders, and other stuff that could do damage to my car. What to do?

I went to the shop to give a local guy my business instead of going to a chain like Midas or Meineke. If I had known the torture I would go through, I think I would have gone to Midas.

Anyway, this post is a warning to all DU'ers to be prepared to become a "Freeper" unexpectedly, and thankfully temporarily, when making purchases that could be costly if your political leanings are found out. Carry a couple of Aspirin, or painkiller of choice, when venturing out into Moran-world.

1. I would have walked out. I've done that before.
Just ask the staff at "Fresh Catch" in Easton, Mass.

6. I'm across town in Malden
and when he turned the radio on, which inspired his neocon drivel, he had already torched through my tailpipe section, so I was committed at that point. Otherwise, I agree that to leave would be the thing to do.

14. Yeah, once they start taking pieces off the car, you're kinda committed to both staying...
and to behaving yourself, or else suddenly all sorts of unexpected problems would be "found" on your car.

5. I'm for buying local, but if they're going to insist on subjecting their customers
to that drivel, I would have gone to Midas or one of the other chains. And I would have told them why.

7. That happened to me at the barber shop
CNN was on the TV and the good ole' boys cutting my hair asked who I was voting for. I said that I wasn't sure...getting a bad haircut is the worst, man.

Keep in mind I have an Obama sticker on my car which was thankfully facing away from the barber shop windows...hopefully they didn't see it as I drove away.

I live in a small town in Arkansas and all of the barbers are conservative hunting types. I guess I'm a bit of a coward (only when it comes to my hair) but supporting Obama around here can be a bit like supporting Krushchev during the Cold War...chilly.

9. All the barbers!?
Wow.

I guess that explains the prevalence of mullets...just kidding.

8. I had to go through something similar
but it wasn't the owners, it was the people in the waiting room while I was getting the oil changed in my wifes car. I was doing all I could not to bust out laughing at their dumb ass conversation. They would try to include me in their talk at times but all I would give them is a "Oh really", "Wow" or "that's interesting". I wonder if any of them noticed the Obama '08 sticker in the back window of the car when they left.

10. You get to expect that sort of thing here in Flori-duh...but I wouldn't have
expected it in New England...I guess times have changed since I went to High School there. (Woostah County)

15. But hopefully you won't have to ever go back
I refuse to patronize local businesses once I find out they're run by dittoheads. I believe in shopping local but I refuse to support Greedy Old Pervert supporters.

16. This letter to the editor in my local newspaper says it all.......
Democrats have the majority votes in the House and in the Senate. Democrats passed a bill requiring everyone to buy a certain light bulb with mercury in it. Cleanup cost of this broken bulb is $2,000-plus.

There is an 800 number to call to get a rebate coupon from the government for the box we need for our television sets before 2009 ends. Are they going to make us go green next? Now the economic stimulus “incentive” checks inspired me to write this letter.
I am an optimistic, conservative individual. I listen to the truth of Rush Limbaugh, Hannity and Colmes, Dave Ramsey, The National Taxpayers Union and Fox News. The drive-by media does not tell the truth.

I voted Republican to get the Fair Tax Bill House Resolution 25 passed.

Everyone will receive a rebate check every month, the IRS is abolished, you will receive your whole paycheck, pay tax only on new purchases. Our future with the fair tax: We buy a used car, tractor, combine, house. No tax. We die and leave our family everything. No tax on them.

Remember, when our children get jobs they will get their whole paycheck.

We will be giving them incentives to do better, and they will be proud that we got the fair tax passed before any other country, because we are No. 1.

I am an advocate for fairtax.org and www.ntu.org.

Your view: Let’s support the Fair Tax: (so en so) Arcadia, Wis.
