Have there been any sightings at all of Young Republicans...
I haven't seen or heard from this curious bunch since the Iraq war started to go south.

We see a lot of youngsters involved on the Democratic side, but the GOP just can't seem to attract anything appraoching the vitalitiy of the Democratic Party.

This, my friends, bodes well for not only this election, but well into the first decades of the 21st century.

Here's hoping the next generation does a better job of governing than this generation.

1. Trust me. They're there. They just don't speak up as much anymore. Yet...
if offered the opportunity, I'd shove into their face an enlistment form for the US Army. Nobody wants to die for somebody else's profits. That's what war really is: A racket.

7. I recently had the chance to do that AGAIN
but these chances are getting harder and harder, even in this right wing county

It is as if they melted with the global warming

I still enjoy the rare occasion to tell them to go enlist or shut the fuck up....

And that is the kind of language these guys hate!

They are bullies, and they hate to be bullied back

9. I don't think they're speaking up, at all
and I sure don't see any evidence of the groups I saw here even 5 years ago. They are still going to bible study groups and Christian groups that push intolerance, but they seem to be disconnecting from politics.

All the energy is on the Democratic side. The dying gasp of the college conservative movement seems to be turning 30 this year, something that bodes very ill for the neocon future.

It's even hard to find GOP bumperstickers in the GOP strongholds in this city. I haven't seen a single GOP yard sign, and their primary is just over 2 weeks away.

8. Yes...a new generation has stepped up to do their duty.
The Mexican border is safe, as they fly regular combat patrols, in the shadow of Dubya.

Heh...I said "duty".

3. They have vanished into the woodwork...
Trying to look industrious at school or whatever...

And feeling so glad that there is no draft...

Obama has truly energized our young people!

I am very hopeful that they will do better than we have, indeed...

I can hardly think they'd do any worse!

4. Yeah.
My daughter told me last night that they've arranged for David Horowitz to speak at UC Santa Cruz next week.

Probably all of 5-10 people will be in the audience.

"Republican" is a damaged brand. How ya gonna be a millionaire 5 years after you graduate if you unwisely hook up with a the losers du jour?

In good 'Lican fashion they're forsaking politics (gets your hands dirty, ya know?) for something with a more reliable payoff. Oil companies, the old man's firm, Wall Street, online porn, etc., etc. makin' some serious moolah.

The Golden Rule: Look Out for Number 1.

14. Oh they're still "out there" alright.....
Edited on Fri May-16-08 12:10 AM by Mind_your_head
They're just suffering a "downturn" right now (everything is cyclic, ya know) ~ but they NEVER have to worry about having enough money to pay the bills. In FACT, they may be paying "you & I" to plow their driveway, faux finish their hallway 3x's!!!!, decorate their house (b/c they have 'not so much taste' - they just "married well" ;-) , unclog their plumbing, refinish their cabinets.....ah, all of us with any talent or skill are just little "worker bees" to these clods (who understand and manage MONEY better than "we" do. "They" LOVE their money (and the supposed power it brings them) you see....*sigh*

Perhaps 'we' should start understanding the concept of MONEY and "usary" ... just for starters.....

Main Entry: usu·ry

Etymology: Middle English usurie, from Anglo-French, from Medieval Latin usuria, alteration of Latin usura, from usus, past participle of uti to use
Date: 14th century

1archaic : interest
2: the lending of money with an interest charge for its use; especially : the lending of money at exorbitant interest rates
3: an unconscionable or exorbitant rate or amount of interest; specifically : interest in excess of a legal rate charged to a borrower for the use of money

you can put me on ignore and NEVER EVER read again one of my posts, if you don't like/understand what you're watchin.....just watch the above movie clip ~ it's THAT compelling for me to make that challenge/recommend.....and I doubt very many of you (who haven't already) will put me on ignore after having watched this.

Peace,
