Today, I am really happy and proud to be a Californian!
I just want to shout it out that my beloved State of California made it 100% the same for any couple who loves each other and wants to get married!

The best part? There is NO freaking residency requirement ~~ so any couple from any place can come here and get legally hitched! And some other state may not recognize this union right now...but since California does...that means there is a possibility that soon and in the future that other state will have to come out of the dark ages just like California did today!!!

Here is to LOVE....:toast:

3. I hope that old saying "as goes California, so goes the rest of
the nation" holds up this time. I'm proud of my state also. What are the rest of you states afraid of?

5. Oh, like the idiot on CNN tonight....
...gay marriage ruins straight marriages! :eyes:

If they wish to preserve all marriages, then outlaw divorce!

4. Is it called marriage or a union contract?
I think if the religious nuts were allowed to keep marriage for themselves as a religious ceremony a compromise could be had.

Churhes can decide if they want to "marry" same sex couples or not. They can hold onto their religious word "marriage under God".

Otherwise it will be a civil contract by the state. Some couples could do both.

It goes to election so who knows if it will stick.

6. Marriage is marriage....
...up to the couple involved and their church whether they can have a religious ceremony. However, anyone can have a civil marriage.

To me...that is just how it should be! :hi:

9. Yes to you but not to "the religiously insane".
They're into "words and symbols". Like the flag or a Ten Commandments plaque at city hall.

Either work around it or forget getting what gays want.

7. A great day for California, but we still need to defeat the right wing's "California Marriage
Amendment" in November. It looks like they might have enough signatures to get that piece of crap on the ballot. Heads were exploding on local right wing radio today!

8. At least Ah-nold came out and said he would not support...
...any amendment to the Calif Const.

I just do NOT understand and never will how in the hell the RWs feel making gays equal in this area of the law is a threat to anyone or anything. Utter bullshit on their part...not a surprise, tho. They are usually full of it.
