in the OP video. And I did have job where if I screwed up, millions (or at least thousands) would see it live on the air, but they wouldn't see me.

So, you have experience reading copy on the air? Sometimes copy is pretty awkwardly written; it may be easy to read silently, but verbally it may be difficult. Professionals make an effort to read through it before attempting to do it live or on tape, and rewrite parts they have a problem with.

I remember that Jessica Savitch thing. Copies quickly made the rounds in the industry at a time before pc's and the internet.

Not for TV though. In the 80s, I was at a place where the commercial copywriter always had the most horrible stuff imaginable. Once, I had a dream that he was really writing in secret code for mob assassins and us unwitting jocks were passing on the info.

When you are low on the totem pole, there's not much you can do about that stuff, but once you gain a little power (not enough to fire someone, but enough to not get fired for acting up), a well-managed fit can work wonders when polite requests repeatedly go ignored. For that reason alone, I don't make judgments when I see / hear stuff like this. Not even on O'Asshole.
