Sometimes I feel disillusioned and desperate
It seems like no matter what you say or do, you are not going to stop a huge portion of the american people from voting republican. You can explain for a hundered years what the connections between the bush family and hitler, the bush family and the saudis or the intents of the corporations are, people just don't want to hear it. Hell, even if bush was cought walking hand in hand with osama bin laden, holding a book that reads "how to screw over the american people as hard as possible", right-wing voters would still find a way to rationalize it. I bet they would say something like "bush would straighten things out if only the liberals would let him. at least he isn't a muslim and a coward like obama and kerry". how are we supposed to go on if the majority of the people has just shit for brains? is there any hope at all?

1. Go out and soak up some natural beauty
As long as there are places like this, there's hope. Even though there's always going to be idiots in the world

5. I'll never forget the time I spent at the Grand Canyon
I did the Rim to the River and back hike.

18 miles, 11 hours.

After that I believe that anything is possible.

3. We are changing their minds slowly.
Some will never change, but we are winning them over. We need a totally Democratically controlled House, Senate and White House to really show them how life improves for Americans when we are in power. We will chip away at Republican power with our actions. There are many who will just never vote for a Dem because of the abortion issue. I actually know some of these people from church. They would vote for Satan if he was a Republican. They don't care. They will never vote for a Dem. They will always hope to prevent any abortion from happening and to prevent gays from marrying. They don't care how many of our troops die in the process.

6. Please don't give up...
...you can change someones mind only if there is a mind to change.

Remember 100 is the AVERAGE IQ.

8. step back
I think you are on dangerous ground to assume that everyone who disagrees with you is automatically stupid and ignorant. I don't mean just in politics. I mean in life. I see it all the time. I think the wiser course is to understand that others have different beliefs and ideas and assumptions about the world. Doesn't make them stupid. Because if you chalk it up as just being stupid, there is no way to understand WHY they do what they do, or how to counteract it.

9. Different is not deficient.
I try to tell myself this everyday, but by golly, it isn't easy.
