Anybody got a suspicious email from "John Kerry?"

I'm paranoid as hell about Spam. This afternoon I got what first appeared a legitimate email from Senator Kerry (I get them all the time and appreciate them) but the type on this one was different. It says we are updating our site, you don't need to do anything but just "click" here to verify your email. I hit the delete. Keep an eye out.

2. can you see the link if you hover over it? see if it points somewhere odd?

Eudora and some other email programs pop up a warning when the URL is deceptive (e.g., says johnkerry.com in the text but if you hover the link is actually http://scaryscam19834957437543.com) - best to hover and pause if your email program or web browser can show you a link before you click on it.

Lots of companies that send email (e.g., mailing lists you're on from ordering from a catalog) and they go through odd third parties.
