Matthews is, first and foremost, a politician who has a show on politics. He sees the fundamental shift underway in our political culture and he's not going to be left behind. His suck-upage during Bush's 'Mission Accomplished' photo-op is the real Chris Matthews. He's bailing on this administration, but he'll be back to playing real hardball when the Democrats finally take back this country.

That was great, because the most troubling thing about this type of political strategy is not who starts that talking point, but the large network of dittoheads and pundits and average Americans who repeat these undefined term repeatedly.
