On another thread (here) the question came up whether a conversation should be held about the Bush family's (specifically Prescott Bush's) "connections" to the Nazis.

I feel it is important to have this conversation.

First, a few questions to set the stage...

What should the word Nazi mean? A member of the Nazi party, a leader in the Nazi party or the German government/nation during the Nazi era?

What should define a "connection"? Card-carrying membership in the German Nazi party under Hitler, a casual business relationship or a friend of a friend type of thing?

Is any relationship negated because someone else had closer ties? Joe Kennedy comes to mind.

Please explain if you feel whether this conversation is important enough to have, then clarify how you define "Nazi" and "connection" and what your feelings are about any American doing business with the Nazis during that era (before, during, after the war).

Thank you for participating and keeping this kicked and recommended so we can understand everyone's point of view about this topic.

...but, rather, is it important enough to discuss?

It happened so long ago, some people have dismissed any connection between Prescott and Nazi-ish people and/or groups and there is the belief that doing business with a murderous regime is morally distinct from the killings.

Is this long-past event relevant today? Or is it bringing up old (and questionable?) skeletons?

7. Can we look at this from a semantics point of view? The perspective, how its recieved,

believed, rejected, all comes to mind.

I call the bigger picture "FRAMING".....The Mind Masters are good at framing, herding, brainwashing, etc

In the end, Truth should emerge for Truth is the Truth....unless twisted, rationalized, etc

Stick wityh Truth, Reason, Common Sense, Common Good, short and long term and maybe we all solve our shit together....This will hardly happen for the enemies of the above are formidable and ruthless

8. Nazi sympathizer

I believe is the term you are looking for.

A sympathizer is one who, while not directly involved in the demented movement, nevertheless is a supporter and believer in the movement's ideals and will often give support in the form of money or materiel.

Prescott Bush was a Nazi sympathizer and helped them directly by financing their rise to power.
