This booking photo released by the Brazos County Judicals Records office shows Rev. Joe Barron, 52, a minister at Prestonwood Baptist, a Dallas-area megachurch, who has been charged with online solicitation of a minor after police said Friday he was caught in an Internet sex sting. Undercover officers posing as a 13-year-old girl communicated with Barron of Plano, Texas, for about two weeks. The online conversations were sexual in nature, police said. On May 6, Barron suggested meeting the girl in person. He eventually made the nearly 200-mile drive to Bryan on Thursday, May 15, when he was arrested. Police said they found a web-cam and condoms in his car. Barron remained in Brazos County Jail on Friday on a $7,000 bond.

this is also entrapment, and false representation.. You hate to see shit like these people, but I wonder how many of these Dateline-like 'predators' are really just ordinary, lonely guys that clicked on a link and had it all snowball from there. I'm not trying to condone what they did, because it is disgusting, but I do not agree with methods like this to trick and arrest people.

That was awful quick: Prestonwood Baptist Church has all but eradicated the name Joe Barron from its Web site -- and with good reason, as today the Bryan-College Station Eagle has the news that the 52-year-old Barron, listed as a Minister of Married Adult III on this cached "leadership & staff" page, was "arrested in Bryan early Thursday after he drove more than three hours to have sex with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl, police said."
