WTF with these weird Mormon FR posts?
Any other FR lurkers out there? Wassup with all this religious Mormon propaganda all the sudden. They seem to have it fixed so nobody can diss the Mormon theology any more (the Evangelical/Mormon FR foodfights during the primaries were good fun!)

Does anybody else think that John McCain is tanking so bad and there is such widespread buyer's remorse in the GOP that they are trying to get rid of him (he could develop "health issues easily enough if he was forced to ) and replace him with 2nd runner Romney?

3. Even the magazine The Week...
had a surprising angle on polygamy two weeks ago. Agreed, it has worked for centuries in other cultures...but the respective heads of the Mormon "church" has over the years had a series of very convenient "revelations", to keep them somewhat in the "mainstream." Then again, I believe Christianity is essentially a cult, so go figure.

4. His medical records will sink his campaign
There's a reason they call him the "presumptive" nominee.. I'm betting he will NOT end up with it.. Republicans may offer him sec of defense or sec of state if he bows out gracefully..

He's the stalking-horse..

6. Not a clue. I choose not to read the web site.

As far as the McCain candidacy for the Republican Party of Disaster, Inc. (R-POD, Inc.) I assume he'll be it. And lose. Who they choose to run down the road is any body's guess at this point.

And, I think their blending (blurring?) of religion and politics has lost its luster, across the country.

7. OMG check this one out: LDS "tight nit [sic] group"
They're afraid of/threatened by LDS somehow and are "appeasing" them by letting them propagandize on FR? Is this what this Freeper is trying to say?

FC: I guarantee enforcers from the Temples have seen what goes on and will report to the beehive.

JR: Could you clarify what that means? I plead ignorance.

Despite protestations to the contrary, LDS is a very political and structurally tight nit group. Since FreeRepublic is a very important conservative forum, and Mormons are conservative and political, some of the posters here are important Mormons who will not wish to cede the political front. Therefore, some of what goes on here is reported to the Bishops and Stake Presidents and others in authority because it impedes efforts to proselytize.

If you remember the now departed tracer, he was the epitome of what I speak, having threatened to use his links to the Church to close Free Republic down. The current crop seems not quite so cut and paste now that Mitt has fallen, but certainly the “hose down the pigs” thread and the spam campaign are very reminisent of an organized campaign to disrupt a la tracer.

Look up blood atonement, and you will see the roots of what now goes on.

8. I'm LDS and an occasional lurker on FR,,,
I don't know if the Mormon stuff is really "all of a sudden." It's been going on for quite a awhile.

Part of what's going on right now is that the FLDS people have been in the news and Mainstream Mormons on FR and other sites are trying to point out the two groups are not one and the same. There are a few ex-Mormons and other Mormon haters on FR who have issues with the church and look for any and every opportunity to criticize, demean, make light of, etc. all things LDS. So then that brings out all the people on the other end of the spectrum, who post all the copies of devotionals and touchy-feely-happy Mormon stories to try to counteract.

I have no idea what they are all thinking about McCain and Romney. I do remember earlier in the season there were a lot there who wouldn't have voted for Romney even if Christ himself came down from on high and endorsed him.

I'd go into more detail about my sock puppet's experiences there, but don't want to out myself to any lurking freepers. Suffice it to say, there are a few thoughtful, smart people on that site, but it seems like they are outnumbered by the morans. It's tough to have any kind of a conversation with a moran.
